One of my new favorite ramen spots! I love that this location is in Campbell, so it's not that far a drive from me.
The first time I came here, it was on a whim! my bf and I were watching Barbie in a theatre nearby and were looking for places to eat that didn't close too early. They close at 11pm, which is later than a lot of restaurants in the area!
One of the things that I really enjoy about their ramen is how light their broth is. I usually leave ramen places feeling quite bloated and uncomfortable, and the broth feels heavy and fatty. This place has amazing ramen that I can still feel really full but not uncomfortable -- and no not about the amount of food! All their broths feel light. don't forget to order the roasted garlic with your meal!
O Y S T E R S Their fried oysters were good, light and crispy but still juicy on the inside! Comes with 1-2 shisho peppers and a dipping sauce.
C L A M R A M E N wow my first time having clam ramen. I was most curious about this ramen upon looking at the menu. The broth was light with an aromatic but not overpowering smell of clams. The clams were plentiful and delicious and the noodles complimented well.
H O U S E R A M E N Their broth is made with dashi and scallops, which gave it such a beautiful and flavorful taste. My boyfriend got the level 2 spicy and they gave him two naruto fish cakes! The chashu pork was so tender and melted in my mouth. I thoroughly enjoyed this one as well.
C R E A M Y R A M E N this is a vegan ramen! but I didn't let that deter me from ordering. The broth made from shiitake sesame and soy milk is such a great combination and gave it a nutty creamy taste that I absolutely loved. Definitely not missing out on anything by getting this vegan ramen! my boyfriend got the level 3 spicy and we didn't think it was that spicy. perfect level, actually lol.
S U M M E R S N O W this is a cold ramen and limited time during the summer months. My boyfriend wanted to not like this bc it was cold and he thinks it's weird, but he really enjoyed it as well. It has the same broth as the creamy ramen. They even put ice in it to really make it icy and cold. It didn't taste weird for it being cold -- I think it brings out the milky nuttiness flavor more and highlights the toppings, such as tender chicken and sweet corn.
You order through the QR code on your phone. Service is great, we usually get our orders in a timely manner. The cold ramen comes out a little slower.. probably bc they have to cool down the broth? LOL idk. I havent had the chance to see the outside patio, but it looks cute from inside the restaurant. There is always someone welcoming new customers when they walk in with a bang from the drum by the entrance. Parking is kinda small and terrible -- you would have to park on the street or take a risk with parking in the...
Read moreI have been a local customer of Hinodeya since the establishment opened a few minutes away from me on Bascom Avenue. I have spent the better half of the last four years living between Campbell and Boston, and in my frequent travels Hinodeya has been the last meal I seek before I leave Campbell, the first meal I seek out when I return, and an often visit for me in the weeks when I retain my presence in San Jose.
To describe this restaurant, the words that come to mind are consistent, peaceful, and uplifting.
To be honest, I can only speak to their House Ramen as it comes, as well as the Asahi Super Dry Draft, since these are the only two items I have ever requested here, and they probably will only ever be the only two items I request. I have never been let down by this combination. The ramen tastes the same each time - warm, flavorful, and so, so delicious. It's as if one could put a taste to the feeling of sinking into a warm blanket on a cold, rainy morning. Furthermore, finding Asahi Super Dry on draft is a rare occasion, and certainly a momentous one. I would describe its crisp, refreshing taste is if one were sitting on a bench overlooking the winterswept peaks of the Akaishi Mountains whilst a cool breeze nips at the tip of one's nose.
One of my favorite aspects of Hinodeya is the soft piano playlist that fills the space - most often covers of various Studio Ghibli soundtracks. It calms the mind and eases tension, and even though I'm proud to have seen this location become a popular staple in my neighborhood, I will always appreciate the times when the dining room is empty and I can enjoy this peaceful ambience which carefully fills Hinodeya with a soothing atmosphere.
While I certainly enjoy bringing my friends to Hinodeya for a wonderful meal, it was here where I first learned how much joy one can find in eating alone in order to engage with some yummy food.
To others, this location may be just another regular ramen shop, but to me, it is one which ties my soul back to where I grew up, and continues to inspire my return to Campbell every chance I get. Hinodeya Campbell Town delivers exceptional cuisine that is worth a special journey, which, in my humble opinion, makes this establishment worthy of a...

Hinodeya is the latest Japanese Ramen import to hit the South Bay within the last few years. This Campbell location is their 4th US location, with two in SF and one in Dallas, TX--of all places.
Hinodeya is a Japanese icon that sees its origins trace back to 1895(!!) and touts multiple awards for their signature wafu ramen.
The Good:
*Love their covid-friendly ordering system where you scan a code on the table, order and then pay right there on your phone. Food is then quickly whisked out to you with minimal human contact. Not for nothing, but I kinda wish this continues in the post-covid era. #justsayin
*I enjoyed their Sishito pepper app that's served with a sweet and savory soy glaze. A few minor quibbles with it tho: I wish the glaze was thicker so it didn't end up on the bottom of the dish instead of the peppers and I would've liked a little more char on my peppers.
*Vegan ramen was excellent! Love the creamy, sesame flavored broth that had an almost nutty flavor, and the giant mushroom, along with the Crispy kale, made this a delicious soup.
*Service was great and the prices are good for the portion size.
*The creamy egg that came with my Hinodeya Ramen was excellent.
The Meh:
*The broth of my aforementioned Hinodeya Ramen was decent but lacked a real depth of flavor and tasted underseasoned to me. Def not the type of broth that one typically expects from ramen, as their wafu ramen is made with dashi and scallops, as opposed to the rich, milky pork bone broth. Not saying it was bad, just not really my thing as I prefer bolder flavors.
*Noodles were OK, but didn't have that great chewy texture I crave. Almost too wheaty as you could see the flecks of whole grain in them. However, with that said I do salute them for attempting a "healthier" version.
The Bad:
*The Chashu pork was dried-out and not that melt-in-your-mouth texture that you typically get from a really amazing chashu.
TLDR: Not bad overall, but probably not the place to go if you're a hardcore ramen fanatic. However, if you're a ramen virgin or person who prefers lighter, more delicate soups then this is the...
