The doctor did the 360 level of surgery as requested. The surgery itself was and is fine. The post surgery pain management has been an up hill battle royal. No narcotic requested. I didnāt use those beyond the first 2 days because they caused awful nausea. Then everything was numb for several days, that was tolerable, but as the swelling went down over the days which followed the pain went up enormously. They donāt warn you about that. Upon request for pain management the surgeon wanted to give 100 mg of gabapentin 12 hours apart. Gabapentin lasts 5-7 hours and is prescribed in the DSMR 5 as 3 times a day . Also 100 mg doesnāt begin to touch it at all and I reported that to them. After a huge verbal battle and through many individuals which included the office manager who told me that I needed to go to my general practitioner for post surgery pain management, I had a fairly ferocious conversation with the surgeon who agreed to correctly prescribe a 3 day supply as 3 times per day but string the dosage needed for 3 days to several days under prescribing as a result, and now on the third day of taking the gabapentin as we verbally discussed I called back as we verbally agreed, but he did not call me back to discuss where the pain is at to manage it for the next 3 days as agreed. At this point I have only the Emergency Department as a resource. My GP will not take over where Sonobello left off. Itās 3 am and the pain is fully back. I am thinking that Iām not going to manage to hang on till morning. Sonobello and pain management is a disaster. We are going to end up in civil court to cover my pain management hospital expense for no reason other than they have an atrocious policy in this regard.
