Me and my friend went to Pappy's today (4/3/25) and I gotta say I was thoroughly impressed. Breakfast should be simple, quick, nothing fancy, and just really good quality food. That's what I loved here. The old school diner feel is welcoming and timeless. The food is again simplistic but done at a high level. I don't wan't a fancy gourmet breakfast; I want a high quality, comfortable meal that reminds us why breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Pappy's does breakfast how it should be done. Got to meet Pappy too, and he is a very welcoming host. Our waitress also was very polite.
The chicken-fried steak was amazing. Perfectly crisp, seasoned well, and that gravy was phenomenal. It's also nice to see a place that knows how to cook eggs over medium properly. The red potatoes complimented everything to perfection as well.
Thank you so much Pappy for the great meal. It was my first time dining with you and it was the best breakfast I have had in quite a while. I shall return soon, hungry for...
Read morePappys greasy spoon is a small town hidden gem. It is very vintage and authentic decorated with Americana and Coke antiques.
The food is great and very inexpensive. The portions are good. Everything is tasty. Everything is made to order and served hot.
We especially like the pancakes, which were slightly chewy and very tasty just the way we like it. The hashbrowns are crispy and the butter plentiful.
The meat lovers omelette is packed with meat and very good. I’d recommend getting the biscuit. It was very soft moist and creamy.
There is a parking lot and street parking, but the actual restaurant is not obvious. It is inside an old mall, but it is downtown Canby.
The service is fast, efficient and genuinely friendly.
There is also a bar to eat at this place has every component of a classic diner from days gone by. Well, worth the trip I will be coming back. This...
Read moreStop by here regularly with my boyfriend on the way home from Portland. Normally very friendly service and decent food. Today was a different story. Came in 40 minutes to close (and yes I know it sucks in the food industry when people come close to closing. I've been there) but the cook grumbled VERY loudly when we walked in. Then the waitress wasn't friendly at all, even pappy himself seemed peeved. Ordered a eggs and bacon breakfast, over medium eggs but received VERY over easy eggs. Mentioned it to the waitress and she didn't even acknowledge or apologies. Ordered crisp hash browns and they were drenched in grease. I've never felt less welcome somewhere in my life. Definitely will stop recommending and am embarrassed I raved to my grandma, whom I was bringing there for the first time,...
