Local spot I've got Carry out from here once and the food was OK. Just recently I was contacted by one of the owners David. Who called himself The Director of operations. David contacted me after seeing my resume online and wanted to set up an interview with me for a management position at Basement burger bar. I explained to him I would have to readjust my schedule for the time requested by David due to the date falling on a national holiday, but was very excited to meet with him and speak about the position. Once I arrived to BBB for my and David's meeting, I asked one of the two waitresses that were on shift which one happen to be the bartender that day, if David was in and explained that I was to be meeting him for the interview. Her response was "no he is not here and that's if he shows up" which kinda concerned me. I decided to take a seat at the bar and wait for David because I didn't want to take up any available tables which didn't seem to be any anyway. I sat at the bar waiting for an hour for David to arrive which didn't happen just like the bartender said. But that's not the worst part. The worst part about my experience at BBB is sitting at the bar and observing how the two waitresses were overwhelmed customers walking out of the restaurant/ Customers very confused about the seating arrangement in the restaurant because there is nobody to greet them at the door and staff complained about the job conditions to customers. A guy next to me waited about 45 minutes for chips and salsa. He made small talk with me asking if I had been waiting on which I explained to him I was waiting for an interviewed for about an hour now which he and I both thought was very unprofessional. Before leaving I asked the waitress/bartender if there was a number she's in contact David at or if it was a manager there that I could speak to. Her response was that the manager is in the kitchen cooking with the cooks and that there's nothing she can do for me right now because she is very busy.
I could go on and on about my experience at BBB but would rather not. Myself being a culinary arts/Hospitality administration graduate and professional in the restaurant business know that this is not how any Business should be ran. Thank your for your time BBB and David, hope you find someone that can truly offer you the assistance you need to save you're...
Read moreMy husband and I come very often and typically have great experiences. Today, unfortunately was disappointing and completely changed my view on this establishment and its management. We decided to bring my parents here as we always talk to our friends and family about how good the food is and how service is also great. This was the first time we came with a party of 6 and my husband did not realize gratuity was already taken out so he accidentally wrote an additional tip, literally 2 minutes after we left I checked the receipt and our bank and realized we had already been forced tip, so we called and explained the situation to the first person who picked up the phone and after 3 minutes of being put on hold the manager just came by and told us we’re SOL and too bad for us because they have signs around. While I’m very mindful with tipping since I was a server once too, it is appalling that the manager thinks it’s ok to essentially “steal” from customers. He just said “I have to protect my server” which is fine, but she already received a $22 tip on a $119 bill and we just had left like 5 minutes ago by the time he finally decided to take us off hold? Kind of shady as they were not even busy either.. How are you not protecting the server if you already have them backed with a forced tip? No shade to the server as she’s professional and served us many times, plus today it seemed like she was the only one serving so I cut her some slack for her not checking on us often throughout the evening. Most upsetting part of my experience is that I have never experienced a manager implicitly call people dumb for not seeing a sign they have and tell us oh well too bad for tipping over 33% on your bill. This is my favorite burger joint, I hope next time I visit my experience won’t be the same… I don’t really feel welcome to come...
Read moreFive star experience all the way. The atmosphere is light and friendly, as is the waitstaff. The decor of the restaurant is exceptionally well put together. Naked, over sized lights hang from the ceiling, and the way the seating is set up, it allows for three separate seating sections to exist together, in great harmony. Two tall chair and table sections (think bar height) a normal (think usual height) table section and the bar fit just right all together.
Now the food. My usual staple at any new burger spot I try, is as follows - Burger cooked medium, a pile of pickles and a slab of onion.
Too many places rely on a long list of topping choices to cover up a bad burger. I am happy to report that this is not one of them.
The meat was very flavorful, cooked perfectly with great texture.
The toppings offered here are phenomenal! I opted for blue cheese and pesto on the side. Both delicious, but the list goes on and on. If you can think of it, it's probably on their list.
For appetizers, which I usually do not order, i got macaroni and cheese bites, and pretzel sticks. I'm so glad I did! Both were a suggestion of not only the bar tender, but also an owner.
The mac n cheese bites are not the usual triangles of grease - the kind that you get from a bowling ally. They were creamy and light, cooked to perfection and had a hint of bacony goodness.
The pretzel sticks were also cooked perfectly, and oh my god, the cinnamon butter is nothing short of heaven! A must try.
Come to this place. Eat this delicious food. Be amazed at the food, atmosphere,...
