American Mattress — Hotel in Canton Township

I visited US-Mattress in Canton because of its excellent reviews, and because photos made the shop look clean, modern, and spacious. I was greeted by Dave, the general manager, who gave me and my partner a warm welcome and eased us into a stellar mattress-buying experience. We came to Canton from a nearby city, and it was certainly worth the drive for the hospitality and transparency Dave offered us as we tried a variety of different mattresses.

It was a real boutique experience - Dave asked us a few questions about our sleep preferences and started us with a few different mattresses to try out. It takes a few minutes to really sink in and feel how a mattress will treat your back and hips. During this time, Dave would either leave us to relax alone for a few minutes, or sit nearby and offer some anecdotes or answer our questions about the mattresses. We learned which makers built their mattresses differently to explain why some felt right or wrong to us. We really were able to dial in what was best for our needs, and then we were given a few options for a totally no-pressure purchase.

I highly recommend anyone visit US-Mattress in Canton, MI if they're in need of a good mattress. I'd never felt so welcome, or made to feel so comfortable by someone working in sales. I never felt pressured to buy something outside of my price range, and Dave the general manager was an absolute delight to talk to...

We purchased a mattress from the Canton Location. When we purchased our salesman was on his first day. We purchased a mattress for our ten year old, and we were told that if he didn't like the firmness of the mattress that we could exchange it and they would order the softer mattress. Our son is very small and skinny, the new mattress is not comfortable at all so we went in to the store to exchange it. They advertise a 120 day in home exchange policy, what they didn't tell us was that they charge 150.00 dollars to Exchange the mattress, plus a 10% Restocking fee. Had we been informed of this during our purchase we would not have bought this mattress. We paid 450.00 dollars for a mattress and would end up paying almost 200.00 to exchange it, then on top of this they cannot simply "Order the softer mattress" as they assured us when we purchased it as the manufacturer doesn't make a softer version of our mattress and the next mattress in the range we wanted is 1500.00 dollars. Remember when you are talking to a sales man, that if they're lips are moving, they are lying. They only care about making the sale, not that they are giving you bad information. I will never return to this store, and I will be telling everyone I know about this. ...

My husband and myself had a really great experience with this shop and with the owner, Dar. We had freshly arrived in the US and were not so sure about the kind of mattress we wanted (also limited by our budget), as soon as we arrived in the shop Dar kindly showed us around - we said we wanted a pretty firm mattress and he guided us very well to find the fitting one. He gave us time to think about it and offered us a significant discount on the mattress - it was really nice of him. He made sure we were aware we could return the mattress and chose another one within 90 days if there was any issues. He organized the delivery for us - which was very convenient - we got to choose when and we got called about 2 hours before a couple of very friendly guys went to install everything. Dar called my husband a couple of days after to make sure everything was ok and we just got a card (handwritten!) to thank us for our purchase and provide us with Dar's number, should we have any concerns. To be honest it is one of the best shopping experience I have had in many years, I had never gotten a written thank-you-card after purchasing a mattress!!
