⭐ 1/5 — Extremely Disappointing Experience We were driving from GRR to Detroit and decided to stop by this restaurant because of its high ratings and positive reviews. We thought it would be a great place to try authentic Indian food, but it turned out to be one of the most disappointing experiences we’ve had. We ordered three items: Gobi Manchurian Veg Fried Rice Mutton Sukka Dum Biryani Unfortunately, none of them were flavorful or properly cooked. The Gobi Manchurian was undercooked and lacked taste. The Veg Fried Rice was nothing like fried rice — it was mostly cabbage with very little rice. I’ve attached pictures for comparison. The Mutton Sukka Dum Biryani was bland and had no authentic biryani flavor. We paid $49 for these three items, and the quantity was very small for the price. Because the food was so bad, we had to order something else later at night — we didn’t want to go to bed hungry. If you can’t maintain food quality or authenticity, please reconsider your approach, because customers trust good reviews and end up wasting their money and appetite. I do not recommend this place at all.

*UPDATE* This restaurant has truly won us over with its consistently great food and service. After a disappointing experience in the past, they made the effort to change the cook, and the improvement in the food has been remarkable. We decided to give it another try, and we’re so glad we did. The daily specials turned out to be a fantastic choice, and since then, we’ve been ordering here regularly. Every meal has been a delightful experience. I’m now a regular customer, and many of my friends have become regulars as well. They’ve all loved the food at my parties, and it’s become a go-to choice for our gatherings. A special shout-out to Dinesh, whose hard work and dedication make our visits even more enjoyable. He’s incredibly attentive to the details of our party orders, ensuring everything is executed perfectly. His commitment to customer satisfaction really stands out, and it’s clear he goes above and beyond. This honest, genuine review is for Dinesh and the restaurant that takes great care of special orders. One of the best Indian restaurants in Canton—don’t miss it!

This restaurant disrespected me by preparing my food to be completely mild despite me saying that I would like medium spice. I told the waitress that no one had ever asked me for the spice level of Gobi 65 before and I just wanted it made the standard way, and when she pressed for a spice level I said medium. What I got was deep fried cauliflower without any spicy flavor whatsoever. The chicken tikka masala I ordered was very nicely flavored in terms of the non-heat spices, and the creaminess was excellent (though I think the amount of meat was a little bit on the low side). But the entire dish was ruined by being prepared "white person mild" instead of authentically medium. I would have sent the food back but the waitress wasn't available to complain to as she left the floor completely, and I was very hungry and at least it was palatable fare.

I came looking for the Raja rani restaurant that used to be in Ann Arbor by the university. I called and asked and the lady said yes. That was the first thing that went wrong here. If this is the same establishment just different location then it has sadly downgraded significantly. It wasn't very clean inside, nor presentable. The restaurant I was originally looking for had a very homely yet clean atmosphere and had authentic north Indian cooking. This is south Indian fare. Nothing against South Indian..now I didn't order south Indian here but ordered Butter chicken and navrattan korma. The portions were very generous and I appreciate that. But the food wasn't something to call home for. Butter chicken is marinated chicken cooked in gravy..usually the marinate is seeped deep inside the chicken making it rich and delicious and then the gravy adds to it's richness. This sad dish was just boiled chicken or sautéed chicken thrown in gravy. The chicken was overcooked. Navrattan Korma - the word Navrattan means 9 gems. So a korma is essentially 9 kinds of vegetables that come together to make a very flavorful dish in gravy. What I ate at this establishment was lacking it's basic essence. 9 vegetables were missing...what I got was 2 slices of raw carrots and a piece of boiled potato with 10 pieces of paneer that was boiled so it gets soft and thrown into the gravy. The saving grace was service and the masala tea that I ordered, which btw took forever to arrive...

Raja Rani in Canton might be a new addition into the Canton area, but they have been a restaurant in the arbor area for over a decade.

I came to try it out once and fell in love with the authentic Indian food made by Jay (the owner)and his team. I myself am North Indian Punjabi and this is very authentic food.

I would have to say it is the best Indian restaurant I have tasted in the southeast Michigan area.

On top of that it was so willing to cater to my work. Everyone at my job at the hospital was so impressed. They could not stop asking me where I had catered the Indian food from. The prices are a great deal for the quality and authenticity of the food that you are receiving here.

On top of that the staff are very friendly and very helpful and give great suggestions. Jay goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable and enjoy the food. You can tell his top priority is that you enjoy the food he makes and I cannot give a higher recommendation. I eat here several times a week just because of the quality of the food. If I could give it 50 stars I would

Give it a try and you will definitely get hooked and addicted to their authentic Indian cuisine whether you are Indian or non-indian, you definitely will enjoy and they can gladly explain you everything off the menu and give great recommendations!!!!

Definitely try the...

This is an edit to my old review below this time I got some promo and decided to give a try again here but I ordered malai kofta and butter chicken, it was absolutely delicious and good portion sizes I was very happy about my order this time so I am bumping to 5 stars. I am not sure about how they make biriyani but I will definitely order these entrees again.

I made a uber eats order and ordered a chicken, lamb and vegetable biriyani, all of them were absolutely terrible, there is nothing good I can say about them. The rice was so sticky, the lamb was old and hard, the biriyanis served at buffets used to be much better than the one I got from this restaurant. It is so unfair to cook worse food like this and sell it to customers. I have never seen a biriyani which is mixed and stirred with eggs. The packaging they provided was so cheap like the once they used to give in indian temples with free food, the packaging would not have been a concern if the food was great but since the food was below par, it has given me a very bad impression about this restaurant, all my family members were extremely disappointed and mad at me for choosing...
