Exceptional all-around! This was our 1st time to experience Bender's Tavern, and we will definitely return. We enjoyed dinner with friends, celebrating our engagement at the age of 60! Doug, our waiter, started our experience out by offering an excellent wine to accompany dinner. To begin, appetizers were yummy- clams, duck, and scallops. A question arose about food during our ordering. Before we knew it, our waiter had googled the topic and shares the resukts with us. We were quite impressed! We all ordered seafood, and every entrée with sides was delicious. Our dinners included swordfish, salmon, halibut, and lobster & filet. All were perfectly prepared. To compliment dinner & help us celebrate our engagement, our waiter, Doug, presented is with an entire mini- decorated cake. It was large enough to feed eight! What a surprise! Lastly, I must comment that Doug asked each of us our names; he remembered and used them during our time together! I've never experienced such quality service delivery; it truly made the dining experience delightfully off the chart outstanding! Bender's Tavern is our new Favorite restaurant!

When you reach a top tier price point, you expect a certain level of service, food presentation and taste. Benders fell short on all. Our server Natalie seemed nice and accommodating like any server but then I realized she clearly plays the game the way the tavern wants her to. I had a strip steak with a lobster tail. This was a 60 dollar plate. I have had better at red lobster for much less. For sides I had broccoli and what is supposed to be their specialty fried brown like potatoes. When I first sat down and my wife and I ordered we were so excited. I was telling my wife in front of our server Natalie that Benders was a staple in the town and we should enjoy. I was very wrong. The 19 dollar lobster tail was more like a single jumbo shrimp the steak was not bad but nothing special at all. The potatoes tasted burned and greasy and the broccoli was over cooked and mushy and the side of mushrooms we ordered were obviously canned. When I mentioned these things to Natalie she simply shrugged it off by saying other people like the food this way and as far as the mushrooms she implied I was correct about them being canned by saying had they been fresh they probably would charge more. She said she would share my feelings with management and in a "fine dining establishment" you would think they would comes out and address the situation and make it right. NOPE! Natalie simply returned with two small ice-cream desserts that were supposed to sweeten the deal as she put. They did not, I left highly disappointed. Again at this price point I can't help but compare to lalas on the lake, capital grill, the bistro at gervasi and many other places that earned my praise. I will never return and you should avoid this place and spend at a place that cares about the level of service and overall dining experience. It was a waste of 180 bucks.

Made a reservation for 6p on Friday night. Upon showing up they were ready to seat us but we wanted to sit outside. Apparently you need to specify preference when making a reservation. Not sure if you add that to the comment section? But it was my birthday so they sat us inside while they prepared a table for us outside. Truly appreciated it. Waitress was on top of everything. I chose the prime rib (only available Fri & Sat) which was super juicy and tender, but could have used a bit more flavor in my opinion. The Bender Fries are wonderful! Call me crazy but the Malibar Shrimp appetizer tasted like it had popcorn seasoning on it... it was great but I do wish you got more than just 2 pieces of shrimp for the price you pay. That being said we didn't leave hungry. Try not to fill up on rolls so you have room for the Flourless Chocolate Decadence for dessert. =)

If you are like me, and like to step back in time Bender’sTavern is the place to go. It opened in 1902, and is the oldest restaurant in Canton, Ohio. You are surrounded by tiger oak paneling, along with original old marble. If you think that is great, wait until you try their food. It is off the chart delicious! We celebrated my wife’s 55th birthday Saturday night. I had the prime rib which melted in my mouth. My wife had portobello mushrooms stuffed with crab, simply Devine. The drinks were awesome too. If you go please request Penny to be your server, she is an absolute professional. She has been there for 17 years, and she is the greatest. You must visit, you will have a awesome experience! Thank you Bender’s Tavern, for helping us celebrate my wife’s birthday. We will be back
