I really hate having to write this review because I’ve always chosen to support this ice cream shop over the chains. I love small businesses and have made a point to skip the bigger, more well-known places to come here instead. Unfortunately, after tonight, I won’t be doing that anymore.
I stopped by a little after 8:00 PM, and when I walked in, I saw people still sitting inside enjoying their ice cream. Because of that, I didn’t think there would be an issue with ordering. But almost immediately, a red-haired woman—who I believe has served me before and may be the owner—came from the back and very bluntly told us they were closed and that we should have noticed the open sign was off. I completely understand businesses have closing times, but the way it was communicated felt unnecessarily dismissive and unwelcoming.
What made it more confusing was seeing other customers still sitting and eating. I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but I couldn’t help but feel like the situation wasn’t handled equally. At the very least, it could have been addressed in a much more courteous way. As I was leaving, I asked if she was the owner, and instead of responding professionally, she sarcastically told me to "have a good night" in an incredibly snarky tone.
I’ve always supported this shop and encouraged others to choose it over the chains. I wish I didn’t feel the need to write this, but after tonight, I won’t be coming back—and I’ll be letting others know about my...
Read moreStopped in here late in the day on a weekend after a visit to the beach - wasn’t sure if the place was even open because all the other stores in the strip mall had apparently already closed and the parking lot was a ghost town. Turns out they were indeed open, and as luck would have it, about 98 other people showed up out of nowhere at the same time we were trying to place our order. There was one guy working the front counter when we came in, but then suddenly two other employees joined him and they handled the sudden influx of customers like freaking ninjas. It was actually pretty amazing to witness - not a single one of the employees appeared even remotely flustered. That alone is crazy impressive. The place was super clean and very comfortable, the menu had a nice selection of various food and beverage options, there was a large case full of unique ice cream flavors - all of the ones we tried were absolutely delicious. The best part (for me) was, they had authentic Spumoni(!!!!) which I have been trying to find for years, but everywhere I go it’s always either out of stock or some form of lame Neapolitan mix just pretending to be Spumoni. Hopefully they keep that flavor in stock on a regular basis, even if it means I’ll have to start going to the gym twice...
Read moreFirst the coffee is excellent and the young girl who waited on us was wonderful. I asked about the non-dairy ice cream. The young girl immediately tried to look up the ingredients. She couldn’t find them so began to look at the ingredients on the container. Her boss or the owner came out and began to scold her employee, she was incredibly rude to me as well after I explained she was only trying to help me. I own my own business back home and would never treat my employees this way or anyone for that matter. I was in the day prior and retuned because the coffee is excellent and I have no problem paying 8 for an excellent coffee. My friend is a local. What I do have a problem with is someone treating another person so harshly. For this reason alone I would never go back. I had every intention of going back later today for the ice cream. Be a better human and treat your employees better. Your coffee and your employee are wonderful you deserve credit for that. I’ve never posted a bad review for a business, and wish I didn’t...
