Thai Thai III Restaurant & Sushi Bar, 8660 Astronaut Blvd. Ste. 108. Cape Canaveral, FL, 32920
3- Stars
Glancing once again at my random name generator, I steeled my nostrils as I haven't had much luck lately with this type of bistro and headed up the coast to Thai Thai III Restaurant & Sushi Bar on the northern end of our lovely little island. The drive up was as beautiful as ever, and with traffic not so bad, I was there in no time at all.
This is the third incarnation of this Thai/Sushi eatery in Brevard County, hence the III. Nothing has changed over time as the menu is exactly the same as it's always been. Having been shown to a table, I was perusing said menu when Bo, our server, showed up to ask if we were ready to order. As I was just that, I placed an order for the standard sushi barometer of a Maguro Temaki (tuna hand-roll), along with an order of their Mango Yellow Curry and a Deep Sea Roll.
Not to come across as Xanthippesque, but I have found that the key to getting fresh sushi in Brevard County is to go after Thursday, as that is when the fish truck comes around. If you go on Monday or Tuesday, you are getting fish from last Thursday and are really rolling the dice on quality at this point. I assume that Thai Thai buys in bulk as it is not of the highest quality to begin with, coupled with being four days in the cooler... This is the third time I have gone to one of these combination joints where the sushi has started turning into a stinky state of being, requiring a turgid application of either lemon juice, hot sauce, or some other flavor-masking device. With that said, on to my order.
The Maguro Temaki was certainly prepared as it should, however, the tuna was almost to the point of no return. The Mango Yellow Curry was exceptionally delightful on the palate. It had just the right combination of tangy, sweet, and hot to please even the most discerning taste buds. If only I had stopped there as I found the Deep Sea Roll to require a hefty application of soy sauce in addition to the amount of sauce the kitchen put on in order to get it past my nostrils. Even so, it smelled of the deep blue sea, and as I've said before, sushi should not smell like that! Fresh fish does not smell like stagnant seawater or basking in the sun raw fish.
The Big Boy says, "The Thai food is the reason for coming here, skip the sushi though as there are much better raw fish eateries around sans dead...
Read moreI and family visited this place 7 years ago and their food impressed everyone. Generous portions, good taste, cooked to perfection. 7 years later and the food is still amazing. Sure the portions are no longer as generous but that's inflation for you.
BUT, I would not recommend this place again due to their drop in service quality. They don't tell you there is a mandatory 18% service fee for any kind of order, including takeouts. You cannot determine how much to tip based on the level of service, and 18% for takeout is just ridiculous. And from our experience the service certainly isn't worth 18%. They first told us lunch items are not available for lunch...Then the Sushi chef was kind enough to remind the waitress that lunch items were indeed available. We were told our takeout order would take 15 minutes. 45 minutes later we still didn't get our food. It's supposed to be a really quick and easy order since we only ordered 4 portions of fried rice. What actually happened was the food had been sitting at the pick-up table for half an hour, but nobody cared to bag them up because they thought we hadn't paid! I left a 10% tip because that's what the nearby Waffle House charges for takeouts and guess what, it's 18% on my credit card bill.
And to make things worse, they forgot the extra side of white rice we asked for and it took a lot of back-and-forth to just ask for a refund. It completely ruined our lunch and everyone was unhappy. I am usually a generous tipper, but the staff on shift that day didn't deserve a penny for that kind of experience.
I really want to like this place, but the staff are doing the chef and cooks disservice with such lack of professionalism. Tips are earned not taken. Either stop adding tips without the customer's consent or declare beforehand there is a...

The sushi at Thai Thai Sushi is among the freshest I’ve encountered in Florida. Each piece was expertly prepared, showcasing the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the sushi chefs. The Thai food was equally impressive, with authentic flavors that transported us straight to Thailand. From the spicy kick of the curry to the comforting taste of the Pad Thai, every dish was a hit.
What truly stood out was the value for money. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the food and the portion sizes. It’s a fantastic deal that’s hard to come by in the area.
