We were in Cape Canaveral for a long weekend of sightseeing and try to find nearby parks for exercise and nature. The city has several tucked in residential areas especially nice for residents who live in high rise buildings.

One of these parks is the Banana River Park on the peaceful Indian River Lagoon with views of cruise ships and very close to another gem, Manatee Sanctuary Park. Both are located in a heavily populated area of Cape Canaveral.

Banana River Park is a small park with two access areas for kayaks, a public restroom, playground, picnic tables, and grills.

While there are signs that say "Animals/Pets Prohibited," the sign also say that dogs are permitted on short leash under the control of the handler.

I don't think this park gets a lot of attention by the city although a city truck pulled in while we were there. The sign to the entrance needs to...

I'm writing a review mostly in response to the person who complained that they didn't see manatee or Dolphin. This is nature. this isn't seaworld. I've been here 3 times with my kids to go fishing. I've seen Dolphin all three times. With that said, it's nature you might go and see dolphin and you might go and see nothing. My kids are great fisherman and we've gotten skunked two out of three times, meaning out of the 12+ hours we've fished and paddled around there, we only caught 1 fish. It's nature, it's an easy place to put your kayak or SUP in and it's a pretty calm paddle around. If you want to be guaranteed to see a dolphin or manatee go to Seaworld, if you want to enjoy nature and a beautiful waterway, then...

Small residential park with limited parking a 2 minute walk from Manatee park. It has a covered picnic area, small put ting hole range and restrooms ( with changing tables). A small kayak launch area leads to a 10 foot sand strip with a gentle grade into the river. The well maintained soccer field was being used. There is a small play park with a climbing wall, jungle gym and two swings ( no infant/ baby swings). Can see the large cruise ships and hear the clanging from the cruise ship port. Good spot for...

Stunning opportunity for photos! We went during sunset... word of caution- bring bug spray or wear pants! The pesky noseeums are unbelievably vicious here. We left with several new bites which itch like the devil the next day. Aside from that, the park is well kept. Clean and inviting. Nice quiet time to reflect on life's mysteries. I would recommend visiting if you're in to nature and picturesque images 😊 👌🏼

Small (and somewhat hidden) waterfront Park in Cape Canaveral. Not as large as Manatee Sanctuary Park just to the S, but it does have restrooms, a small playground and rock wall, a putting green, 2 regulation bocce courts, a covered pavilion with several picnic tables, a soccer field, a NovaCHARGE EV charging station, and a kayak launch. OK, maybe it's bigger than it looks.
