Updated review: Just got back from my first time at the remodeled Annie's and I got say it was really underwhelming. The spinach and mozzarella scramble was exactly the same, so that was nice a d the pancake tasted the same but I think they are cooking it on a lower temperature griddle bc it didnt have the crispy lacy edges that I had come to love and the color is quite a bit lighter than I remember, same dynamic taste though. My mom ordered the crepes with apple filling and said they were disgusting (my little brother agreed but I did not try them). We are thinking they were add store-bought crepes and the filling was almost tasteless. She barely ate it, told the server, and them the server left it with her and still charged us. My mom picked at it but never ate really any of it, it was just cut up on the plate and a little was on my brother's plate but beyond the initial tastes, no one ate it BUT the server said she ate more than half and wouldn't take it off the bill - even when I asked at the end. I watched her walk to a trash can and push it in, she never showed anyone or walked back to the kitchen to let them know to taste the ingredients and make sure it's all good. It was really depressing to see. And speaking of depressing, that sad, sad color and new interior. There isnt a single Raggedy Annie left, the color reminds me of the contents of a diaper (sorry but its true!), the fun artwork by that one quirky guy who ran the front is all gone and now there is a big ole cross up on the wall just to make sure we all know what their religious affiliation is. I'm a proud atheist and while I dont care what religion you are, I feel that proselytizing in your business pushes it too far for me. That's their choice but after everything I'm so sad to say I wont be back. I've been going to Annie's for 22 years since I moved here when I was 12. I hope you guys figure out what you're doing bc it was really unfortunate. (And I didnt even go into the poor service, sticky syrup bottles, and the 35 minutes it took feok when we placed the order to when we got it - and I had a small toddler with me, youd think they'd speed it up!)
Nothing fancy but we love Annie's. Been going for decades. Pancakes, scrambled ...all the basics you could ask for at fair prices. They get busy so be prepared to wait...
Read moreWe are Cape Coral residence who finally decided to try this place after all the rave reviews. When we first walked in, we stood in the doorway for five minutes in a nearly empty restaurant waiting to be seated. The hostess just acknowledged us and walked back in the kitchen for a few moments before coming back to the stand chomping on food and saying “ I quote sorry about that”. After being seated, we noticed the menus were dirty, but continued on with picking out what we wanted to eat. Though our waiter was nice he came off as if he was in a constant rush with only 2 tables one had just finished and us. The food unfortunately was a major disappointment. Having been a door dasher and had picked up many orders for Annie’s before I had really been looking forward to trying their home fries, but they were rubbery. My country fried steak had no flavor and was mushy, the gravy on top was broken and had a bunch of pockets of either unmixed flower or cornstarch either way it was bitter powder. I had to scrape the gravy off it was that bad. My eggs were ice cold and toast had started to stale. My husband’s omelette was ice cold and his toast though not burnt was hard as a rock. My husband ordered a side of plain pancakes that were undercooked in the center and clearly a box mix they were $8.50. Throw back in The hostess, who was also busing tables as well as helping bring food out and constantly going back into the kitchen and stuffing her face and touching everything without washing her hands and awkwardly walking in the same circle over and over again through the restaurant, pausing at random times in front of tables almost as if she was listening to the conversations of the patrons. WE WONT BE BACK !! Maybe they used to be good but that was then and the fact of the now is your better of going to the market and buying the ingredients for the foods that you would wanna order from there then actually have them make it for you. And you would not need to be concerned over food safety practices while attempting to enjoy your meal because you wouldn’t be there to witness the lack of cleanliness & safe...
Read moreAnnie's Restaurant 5-30-24 Stopped by Annie's for lunch today and this place was packed. We got a table fast, and waitress came right over and took our drink orders and gave us menus. She came back a short time later to take our orders. I ordered the club combo sandwich with fries and so did my wife. It did not take too long for our food to come out and boy this sandwich was huge. My mouth was not big enough to take a bite without crushing it down a little bit. This was one large sandwich. It tasted very good and everything on it tasted fresh. The fries were very good as they tasted like they were seasoned. Now you know why all the locals come here. It was all I could do to get the entire sandwich down as I was getting filled up and I still had a couple fries to go. I was too good to leave anything on my plate. My wife could not eat the entire meal, so she got a box to take some along home. We did eat the leftovers the next day and they were still good. I loved this place, it’s very basic but has a great vibe with a lot of locals in there. If you want a fancy place with posh decor this is not the place for you. If you want great food and good conversation at reasonable prices this is the perfect place for you. They do run specials most days, you will just have to call of check on line for that particular day. I will give this place 4 out of 5 stars. Like Arnold stated I’ll be back, and I can’t wait to go back.
