Growing up I use watched Tito on TV, I heard he moved to Cape Coral and had a restaurant he was opening up. I knew I had to check it out.
Driving to the restaurant my girlfriend and I were excited to go check this spot out. As we arrived we noticed it was the old Nice Guys Restaurant. They had signs posted all around the building saying “parking in the back” as apposed to them allowing patrons to park around the establishment. Altho there was a few vehicles clearly ignoring the posted sign in red written again all around the building.
The place was busy on the outside as well as inside. We didn’t have to wait long and seated quickly. As we were taking in all the decor as our waitress greeted us and gave us menus along with some water. We had No glasses to receive said water, nor did we have any silverware.
While we looked over the menu our waitress brought us complimentary chips and salsa, that’s if you wanna call it chips more like crumbs in the bottom of the bag. They were season well and the salsa was good. But was not impressed with the lack of chips received in basket.
We ended up ordering a Quesadilla and Carne Asada Mulita. So for the Quesadilla it was a little burnt and didn’t have a whole lot of flavor. It needed more sauce, because the meat was dry and the lack of flavor. The Carne Asada Mulita was good but drenched in sauce for such a small portion. If you’re hungry I would not recommend (maybe only for a kid or appetizer). To add this is coming from a guy who loves sauce and can eat. The rice and beans that came as a side was bland and had no flavor, it was yellow rice and pinto beans it seemed it came straight out of a can or came from a box.
Drinks we ended up getting the Dragon Berry Mojito, that was flavorless and not much of a berry or mint taste. The next drink the Fuego Mango was good but you couldn’t taste the alcohol and seemed watered down and the the original drink I had order wasn’t even on the menu. If this place just opened wouldn’t you want to have everything on the menu? Well I guess not, because when the waitress came back my original drink the El Burro they were all out of. And she then stated they are re doing the drink menu when they again just recently had opened, and they had no prices for the drinks either on the menu. The place would be cool if they equally focused on the customers sitting at the tables. My girlfriend had to hunt them down for silverware when our food arrived. It’s seems like this is more of a bar then a restaurant due to the fact it seemed like they focused more on the drinks then the food. Maybe I’ll check it out again in the future once they become a little more established.
Side note: Tito did seem down to earth. He was friendly and happy to take pictures with his customers. He was even working and...
Read moreCame to Tito’s during a visit with family to Cape Coral. Not a lot of available parking when we arrived around 6pm on a Saturday. Place had a good crowd but was not overly busy. Got seated and waited for about 10 minutes without being greeted. Had to ask the hostess if we had a server. Server that was there walked by several times without a greeting and went to a table that was seated after us. Finally came to our table, had to get a menu for margaritas as we weren’t given one and one wasn’t on the table. Ordered our margaritas and waited another 10 minutes. Watched our drinks sit at the bar for 5 minutes while all the servers and bartender stood outside taking pictures. Finally walked up to the bar to see if we could get our drinks and was ignored by the one person behind the bar. When I grabbed the drinks another bartender that came in from outside started yelling at me that I couldn’t take the drinks. Told him we have been waiting while our server is outside taking pictures and his response is she is busy. Told him if she is busy she shouldn’t be outside taking pictures. Was about to leave but decided to stay despite the rude bartender. Had to wait while someone other than our server picked up our drinks and brought it to the table. Felt the margaritas were good, 5 stars. Finally our server came in to get our order. Once our food was delivered, it was ok but felt it was pricey for what was provided. Give 3 stars for food bring overall food to 4 stars. Server hardly checked on us or asked us if we wanted any more drinks. Once we finished our meal, waited another 10 minutes to get bill. Had to ask another server if we could pay while our server went to the same table three times and not one came to check on us. Finally server came, never saw the bill, just paid the bill. Was not pleased with the service...
Read moreI recently flew out to Punta Gorda to visit my brother. The minute he picked me up at the airport, he was excited to tell me that we were going to Tito’s Cantina. Tito Ortiz’s new restaurant in Cape Coral, FL, since recently moving there from Huntington Beach , CA. Now In full disclosure, I am from Huntington Beach Ca. And I happen to know Tito Ortiz, as I was a member of his HB Ultimate Gym for over 10 years studying BJJ. I have always found Tito to be very generous with his time helping others and a hard driving perfectionist. So I was excited to try out his new Cantina to see if he brought the great Mexican food of his Heritage and the many great Mexican restaurants of Southern California.
I will say this….He did not disappoint. We started with drinks. My brother ordered his go to Vodka drink while the bartender (very pretty but forget her name) created a drink for me , after asking a few basic questions, that was very refreshing.
We ordered the Guacamole and chips for an appetizer and it was authentic home made chunky style just like it is back home. We both ordered fajita’s served in a pineapple “bowl”. Can’t remember the name of the dish but it was crazy good. Just enough zing and just a little sweet for a perfect balance for the fajitas. The atmosphere was lively…great bar staff…and the motif was…well very Tito-like. And to top off the evening, Tito came in and greeted his guests like a champion host does. It was great to see him, chat with him and give him my honest review. If you find yourself in southwest Florida with a hankering for good drinks and authentic Mexican food, go to Tito’s Cantina Tequila Bar & Grille in Cape Coral. You won’t be disappointed. Great job...
