We ate here for Father's Day and my father-in-law's birthday and it was amazing. Our server Chloe kept drinks filled and got food to the table quickly.
Drinks: I had a Dublin Mule and an Irish Wake. The Dublin Mule is (as you would expect) lime, ginger beer and whiskey. Delicious. The Irish Wake was considerably stronger and is made from rum and OJ (with a three drink max). Also Delicious.
They also have various craft beers on tap including a house brew.
Food: I had the Pick Two (1/2 Sandwich and Soup). The half Reuben was really good. Not the best ice ever had, but a well made with the perfect blend of sauerkraut and corned beef. The Potato Soup was a different story (in a good way). A pot sealed with a layer of melty cheese concealed a thick semi liquid treasure filled with chunks of potato and bacon. I've rarely had a potato soup so close to what I make myself in terms of consistency and flavor. My wife had to try a bite after me praising it so much and she loved it as well.
My daughter had the kids grilled cheese with house made chips. She loved it.
My wife had a cheeseburger. She said it was good. It came with "planks" which are somewhat like battered French fries. They had an excellent flavor.
My father-in-law had the shepherd's pie. It looked delicious. In the same way my potato soup was sealed with cheese, his shepherd's pie was sealed with mashed potatoes.
We also tried two appetizers. The Guiness White Cheese Dip was devilishly creamy and went with the baguette it was served with as well as the Bavarian Pretzels we ordered as our second appetizer.
All said and done (including a 20% tip) this meal cost us around $30 per person for 5 meals, 2 appetizers, 4 drinks and a lovely...
Read moreI've been holding off on this review of Katy O'Ferrells Irish Pub and Restaurant for a couple of weeks. I went in for lunch then to give them a second chance. I really wanted to have Shepard's pie. Unfortunately, even though it's titled Shepard's pie on the menu, this "Irish" restaurant doesn't have this dish. Shepards have sheep and lamb. This pie is made with beef, which makes it a cottage pie. After seeing one come out from the kitchen and noticing it was absolutely swimming in grease, I decided on a different dish. Fish and chips made with cod. What could go wrong? Well, the fish was cold in the middle, soggy, and swimming in water. This happens when the fish is either hastily battered and thrown in the fryer from frozen or if it's thawed in a tub, which will naturally have water in the bottom, and hastily battered and thrown in the fryer. In addition, the oil wasn't hot enough. The potato planks were undercooked and tasted of fish in addition to being under seasoned. Even their sauce wasn't enough to help them. The reason the taste was off is because someone used the same oil for potatoes that they used for the fish. This is just a huge no-no and should be common sense for anyone operating a fryer.
The service was top notch! The poor girl who served me was also responsible for tending bar at the time, and she managed to handle...
Read moreIn town for the MO HS volleyball final four and went in for lunch with friends in a party of 6. Food and service was very good. My wife and I shared an appetizer of pretzel sticks and a pick two of shepards pie and cobb salad with 2 waters. Our bill was roughly 26 bucks.
The pretezels were some of the best we have ever had. Warm and soft with a honey mustard and cheese sauces. Very pleased with the appetizer.
The pick two looked to be a little on the small side but ended up being pretty filling. The shepards pie was in what looked like your standard cup of soup bowl, maybe a little bigger. One person in our group had the regular sized shepards pie and it was in what looked to be your standard bowl for soup. Most of the places we have been to for shepards pie the portion sizes have been larger so that is what I am basing my comparision on. It was very good shepards pie
The cobb salad was very fresh and filled with plenty of toppings considering it was part of a pick two. The salad had a ton of large cubed chunks of ham. They didnt skimp on the dressing either.
Overall I was very happy with our food and service. Price wise I would consider it a little over priced but not something that would keep me from going back. They did have a full menu that I would for sure like to try at another if I am...
