We came in once we arrived in Carpenteria. On our way to see family, decided we were too hungry to wait to eat. I read the reviews on line and we decided to give it a shot. Especially since I saw they had a Mole Burrito on special. I’ve been craving Mole Sauce like Oaxaca, MX. It was a fantastic choice. My husband got the Tres Amigos Burrito. We split the burritos in half so we could both sample each others. Perfect, Perfect, Delicious and excellent atmosphere with fantastic service. Highly recommend Rudy’s Mexican Restaurant.

The carnita torta was absolutely delicious. The carnitas were made well and not dry like some carnitas I have tasted. It was very well worth the 8.50. Very nice place and the workers are very polite. I highly recommend!

This is an original place. Get your burritos with meat, and it will taste like the real deal. If you want it spiced up, get your own salsa from the side table. Thumbs up!

I'm surprised at the good reviews here...I'm not one to leave a review, but our experience here was so bad I feel like I HAD to....We went here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch..I ordered the fish tacos, my husband had beef tacos... Neither one of us could eat our meals...the fish was mushy and sitting on what looked like old guacamole (greenish brown and MUSH).. I had one bite, and had to FORCE myself to swallow it...my husband's tacos were the same...he couldn't eat them either- and he's NEVER turned down a taco!! His FAVE! we also ordered chips and guacamole... the guacamole came in a plastic container with a lid as opposed to a bowl (??) and had NO flavor...it's like they just mashed some avocados and called it 'guacamole'... the chips were obviously store bought and heated up in a microwave and then served scattered on a paper plate (???)...seemed VERY odd for a Mexican restaurant to sever something VERY commonly ordered this way..CHEAP!!...then I went to use the restroom before we left.... apparently you have to ask for a key and when I did they couldn't find it.... ???!! .. and worse, they just scattered some trash around a little box under the register where the key is kept for about 1.5 seconds, said "we lost the key" and that was it-- they didn't even keep looking!! Just said "oh, we can't find it" and that was it!! What about the next customer who requests it?? How do you NOT have a restroom available to customers??!! I would have to say this was the worst dining experience I have ever had...My husband and I were SO angry that we spent $40 on an inedible meal...we should have complained, but we just wanted to get...

Carpinteria classic Hangout. Said by many to be the best Mexican in town. Maybe so. Our fajitas were just so-so, though the tortillas were very large. Location is not very nice but when you're eating I guess that doesn't matter. Always busy!

UPDATE: 7/31/23 Return for dinner with my grandson. What a terrible meal! My beef taquitos were hard as a rock and looked as though they had been cooked a week ago. The meat was also hard and dry inside. My taco had a shell hard as a rock and the meat inside was also dry and tasteless. My wife's enchilada she said was not so bad but what I had of it again had very dry chicken. My grandson's meatless burrito had decent rice but the tortilla was tasteless. For $50, I was appalled! It would be hard to imagine a reason for...

I’m coming from LA where restaurants season their food well making it a memorable experience. I was in the mood for Mexican food and this place looked promising. I ordered the carne asada tacos plate that comes with two tacos, rice, and beans. This was definitely quantity vs quality the tacos are huge yet very bland. You’ll need a fork to eat the tacos as the tortillas get mushy and fall apart. Despite my efforts to doctor them up with the salsa bar they were boring to eat. The beans and rice were decent. I also ordered the guacamole and chips again very bland. I can’t speak on anything else on the menu but sadly I won’t be trying them again. Tips for the beef taco’s and guacamole please add more...
