I generally don't leave negative reviews unless it's an especially bad experience.

Started off really well. I called ahead and asked if they had any wait and if they were kid-friendly. No wait, and they said there are a lot of menu items suitable for kids.

Ordered: Birria Ramen Bang bang Chicken Pork Belly tacos Chips & Salsa

The Bang bang chicken was great.

The ramen was where it all went downhill. When it arrived, I was confused because it looked so different from what I saw on their IG (this dish was the reason we went there). So I showed her the photo from their IG and she said it was the same dish. I asked about the veggies and she said they're at the bottom (they're weren't) or they were out of veggies. I had also told her it was for my kids. Turns out, it "has a kick at the end" and they didn't eat it because it was spicy.

Well, it was my fault for not asking if it was spicy and she didn't offer any resolution, so I ordered a quesadilla instead. I asked for two to-go containers to pack up the untouched ramen: one for the noodles and another for the soup. She offered to get it packed up.

Again, this was largely untouched. She came back with the noodles shoved into one plastic container. I asked for a second container and when I separated it, either the soup was all gone, or they threw it away, because I had about a tablespoon or two left. It felt like a waste of the dish and it worsened my experience of their service.

Meanwhile, another server came back and asked if we wanted more chips to finish our salsa. I said sure.

When I got the check, there was a charge for "a side of chips". That would have been nice to know. I ended up calling that out and they were nice enough to remove it.

But man - if management reads this: please don't post misleading videos and photos on IG and don't throw away food when you're packing leftovers just to fit it into a container.

Will not visit this establishment again, which is unfortunate because the ambiance was nice and we were looking...

This used to be my favorite restaurant in Carborro but they changed chefs and the difference in the dishes I had ordered was startling. The Shrimp Diablo went from the most delicious curry dish I had ever had to a dish I would never buy. It had a thick red Smokey sauce (made from a Latin variety of Smokey pepper) that the shrimp were drowned in and they squirted a too spicy (and I love spicy) sauce all over the top that was even more of the Smokey flavor and it was awful. My son ordered the non spicy version of the shrimp dish which was still too spicy. The waiter was kind enough to replace his dish with the El Pastor tacos, which I really appreciated. My son said the meat was an 8 out of 10 but they had squirted more of that Smokey sauce (non spicy version) all over the top of it that he said took over and took away from the dish. It’s just the kind of flavor that takes over everything so he had to work at scraping it off to enjoy the tacos. We also had the Vietnamese Caprese (ordered with light mint) which was served with Asian chips. The chips were actually delicious but it was a bit difficult to eat them with the tomatoes and cheese because the pieces of cheese and tomato were cut in chunks too big to balance or scoop on the chips. So I found myself trying to cut the tomato and cheese pieces in half with the spoon they gave with the dish so I could eat them together. The waiter who served us was super nice and really tried hard to make me happy. The manager was also nice and came over to see how things went. The atmosphere is the same as before and I like the cozy feel and the way the place is decorated, but I have to mention that there was a weird sewer smell coming from somewhere that was definitely noticeable. It’s mentioned in other reviews too. Not sure where it’s coming from but they should really try and do something about it for their customers sitting in the back isle of the restaurant. (Forgot to take a pic of the Diablo but here’s the Caprese...

We were so excited to try this place to celebrate our anniversary! We love specialty cocktails and had made the reservation for the cocktails more than the food. Even planned for Ubers so we could enjoy a couple drinks. Unfortunately, the service was less than ideal.

We had a 6:45 reservation. Sat down took 10 min for server to come. Didnt have QR code on the table so she went to get it and that took 5 minutes. In the meantime we had already looked the menu up. We ordered drinks and food at once. We got our first tapa at 7:35. No silverware. We asked for some and never got it. My husband’s cocktail finally arrived around 7:50. The rest of the food came around 8. We again asked for silverware and got it after our food was delivered. By this time I STILL hadn't gotten my first cocktail. At 8:25 we were finished eating, no cocktail still. I asked for my check at this point and they brought the cocktail at 8:35. Then we asked for the check and it took 20 minutes to bring it. The food was really tasty but the service was horrible. They had one bartender working the entire restaurant, on a Friday night. The service turned me off so much that I hesitate to ever try it again.

I will say our server was incredibly sweet! It was absolutely not her fault at all and it is clear that they didn’t schedule or have enough people working. She was doing her best to manage the tables. She was extremely kind and apologetic and gave me a glass of champagne to make...

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! We had 3 dishes. The Tuna Crispy Rice is their most popular dish. The menu description doesn't do it justice. It looks like a sushi roll, but there is no seaweed wrapper. There are squares of rice cake on the bottom. The cakes have been seared so are quite crispy on the bottom. On top of that is tuna tartare, guac, and a glaze. Delicious! I also had bulgogi nachos. This dish was large with a good amount of well-spiced beef among other things. Not sure what the chips were made from (probably corn, but I am not certain) but they were fried and very crispy. I did get a piece or two of gristle in the meat, but it still tasted good. My wife had a Vietnamese beef "stew" that I would characterize as more of a soup. The broth had multiple layers of flavor and was quite good too. Our server was very personable and I liked her a lot. The owner comes to everyone's table to see how folks like their meal. My only quibble is that the wine list has only two whites and two reds by the glass. I would like a couple more choices. Same with the beers. You can park for free in the Carrboro parking deck behind the Hampton Inn. We will definitely go back.
