Cristina's Fine Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Carrollton

My husband, toddler, and I went in on a Sunday evening. There was a couple at the bar and two families besides us, which made for a very weird atmosphere with it being so empty. Our waitress clearly did not want to be there and despite us trying to smile and please and thank you, she never actually looked at us once. Not rude at all, more sad? We ordered house margaritas (THE cheapest option) and they were $10/each (which we didn't know at the time). My husband's didn't have the salt rim but he had a lime, mine did have the salt rim but I didn't get a lime? The chips had zero salt or any other seasoning on them, just bland tortilla strips. The salsa came out cold and looked to be just tomato, onion, and cilantro. Also zero flavor and ZERO spice. Our daughter just turned one and she ate it with a spoon. My husband got a small piece of salmon with PLAIN rice and veggies and it cost $17. I got what was essentially cheese, onion, habaneros, mushrooms and brisket mixed together. I personally thought it was soooooo good but not worth $14. As a side I got plain white rice and refried beans. They gave me three tortillas and "pico de gallo" which was very literally JUST tomato and onion. Wish I had taken a picture. Including tip, we spent over $70 on two people (no appetizer or dessert, two entrees and three drinks). Underwhelming to say the least. Won't...

Bottomless Chips and Salsa are better than the 'Bordering Competition' down the road. Salsa has flavor without being overpowering and my friends who "don't like anything spicy" are happy. If you ask for a little Picosa (aka 'Spicy'), you can mix it into the salsa for a little tang. I can't recommend the Queso Mexicana (no Guac, sub sour cream) enough. When sick I have a couple bowls of Soup and some extra Picosa to clear my sinuses. :) Staff is on point and works like a team. My addiction knows no bounds and has ruined at least 3 of my attempts to slim down a bit.

I've been eating at the Carrollton location for years. Maybe it's familiarity, but my attempts to eat at one of the other's has not had the same warm and fuzzy. (Not bad, just not as good. It helps that the current staff know everything I ask for before I actually do it.) So whatever review you read (good or bad), don't assume it applies to all the restaurants. Went to dinner last night 04/16/22 with my parents and had the worst service ever. I could not believe it. The waitress did not care about anyone. We waited over 15minutes until she got to the table to help us. Knowing we were there because she walked past us 5 different times. Another waiter brought our food, waited for the waitress about 10minutes still didn’t come and finally said I will do it myself. That is very frustrating. My parents food was cold mine was hot. We told her we wanted the check and she brought it 10minutes later, my dad said here you go, to hand the credit card and she walked away never came back, we waited over 20minutes. Finally had to get up and walk towards the door/bar before she even acknowledged us again. She doesn’t deserve a 1 star she deserves zero if I could just like the tip she received $0.00.
