We have visited twice within the same week. The first visit was stellar; food was on point, and service was hospitable. I had a craving for more souffles, so wanted to return as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it was night and day difference this second visit, and the food was very mediocre.
I asked Isha how long a batch would take and several more questions about the menu, but she wasn't very receptive of my questions. When I finished ordering, she asked for my name, which I literally spelled out to her, but she butchered it anyway. Okay, not a big deal. The food starts coming out. The waffle for my husband's ham and cheese croffle was very soggy, and not as delicious as we have remembered. A few minutes later, Isha called my name (and had it right verbally for some reason) and almost gave me the wrong souffle order. I told her it's not my order, and she was confused. Eventually, she said, "Oh, it's someone else's order."
While I was up there, I brought to Isha's attention about a discrepancy on the pricing - the board states $9.99 for the ham and cheese croffle, but my receipt shows I was charged $11.99. The worst part was her response when I brought this to her attention. There was a smirk on her face and she said, "Oh I know. My manager needs to fix that." So, she knows about this price discrepancy and doesn't say anything when we are charged more? I did not think Isha's response was adequate, so I had to repeat that I was charged more than the board states. She proceeded to whisper to her colleague about the situation, and I guess her colleague told her it was okay because reluctantly refunded me. Eventually, my correct souffle orders were called, and I feel these were rushed, the presentation was messy, fruit was not as fresh, and did not taste as good as the first visit.
I want to bring to your attention that the ham & cheese coffle is $9.99 at the Frisco location, so I was definitely overcharged and I feel like I was price gouged. I'm glad I looked at my receipt this time! I ordered this the other day as well, so was probably overcharged that time as well. I'm sure several others, if not many others, were also overcharged. I feel this establishment is inconsistent, and service was unapologetic and ungracious. I was so excited to have a souffle place so close to me, but I'll have to travel to the Frisco location...
Read moreAtmosphere: The cafe is cute! The space is pretty small, so it can be very loud if the cafe is full and if you come on the weekend. The cafe has two doors, front and back. You can park your car in the free visitor/retail parking and enter from the back.
Taste: The fluffy cakes are very soft and indeed, fluffy. The taste reminds me of American breakfast pancake, but softer. I ordered the Signature (banana & strawberry) and Tiramisu. Both were good, not sweet (I don't like sweet desserts). But it wasn't a "wow" or impressive taste.
Service & Time: We came here on Sunday (labor day weekend) at 7:45PM. There were 6 staff (1 cashier, 1 barista, 1 server, and 3 bakers). We waited for about 20 minutes for the order. I understand that the cakes are made fresh. But honestly, it was a long wait for a dessert cafe. Even Somi Somi doesn't take that long and they are busier and more crowded on the weekend. Once you place your order, a server will call out your name and bring the food to your table. The server also brings utensils. Please keep in mind that they don't accept cash. Card only. The staff are very nice and respectful.
Price: Personally, I thought the pancakes were very pricey. The Signature (came with 2 pancakes) was $12.99 and the Tiramisu (came with 1 pancake) was $13.99. Together, it was about $30. There were a few fruits on the pancakes. Frankly speaking, it was expensive for me.
Overall: You should try it at least once just for the experience. But overall, it is not a tasty dessert, and it...
Read moreI was so ecstatic when I found out that Fluffy Fluffy has opened a location in Carrollton. I fell in love from my visit at the Frisco location, and was hoping to have one near me. This location is located in a retail space at the condo/apartment building called The View. You can enter the building's garage and park at any retail parking spots.
Fluffy Fluffy specializes in soufflé pancakes which was a big craze in Japan. Each pancakes are made to order from scratch, so it can take about 15-20 minutes for your order to come out, but it's worth it. As they have an open kitchen, you can see the employees using Kitchen aid mixers to make each batch carefully. I definitely suggest tipping these employees as making these pancakes take extra attention to detail and being delicate with hands.
The pancakes it self come out with such cute presentation with detail, and visually look fluffy. I ordered blueberry cheese pancake with ice cream and was pleasantly surprised with the detail of torching and brulee'ing the lemon slices that came as part of presentation. You can also visibly see the spongy-ness and the small pores throughout the pancake. These are very delicate and cloud like in your mouth and not too sweet, making it a perfect breakfast or a dessert even after a heavy meal. The quality and the taste is consistent between the two locations and I am a fan of this...
