Not impressed with the service. Where to start? My daughter and I visited this place for the first time on 3/23/2024. It was a mommy/daughter day and she loves to try new things so we came here. Keep in mind, she is four. We showed up and were promptly seated. It was NOT busy at all. There were lots of workers so I thought initially this is great! Shouldn't be any issues with timely service. Boy, I was wrong. Service started off great, but quickly became "awkward". Not to mention, they sit you in this general area with lots of tables and no privacy at all while they all stand around and gawk at you....sheesh. Where should I start?
Well, let's start with the good: Food was very good considering it was a AYCE place. Beef, great! Some of the staff was great (although it seemed to be the staff clearing the tables that worked the "fastest" but we'll get to that later).
Unfortunately, that's all i can say for the "good".
Keep in mind, my daughter and I were there a total of maybe an hour, hour and 15 minutes, and the majority of the time we were being silly and spending time. The first 30 minutes, the staff was very attentive and happy to take our order, but by the last half, they pretty much ignored us, which made me feel rushed and unappreciated.
So, let's move to the bad: I'm pretty sure my full order was not brought out both times i ordered. Items weren't brought out all at once and they "forgot" my eel the first time. Service completely "fell off" after 30 minutes and I truly felt like they were just trying to get us out of there. I had told the one server that i thought i had ordered more but wasn't sure. So he left, which was to go and check (I thought) but he never came back. I didn't have another "menu" to order so i waited until another person came over and asked if we were ok. Which is when i eventually was brought another sheet to order. Some of the staff were super soft spoken and didn't seem that friendly. Maybe that's just their "personality" but if you're in the service industry, you should be a little more outgoing. We had advised them it was our first time but nothing was really explained to us other than, "we have two hours and whatever is left over, we pay for...". It just seemed so robotic and short. I do not like that each table has 20 different people working. I can assure you, the great workers are getting screwed daily by the bad ones because most people who received the service i did, wouldn't have tipped at all.
Also, because it was the weekend, I paid dinner price so the total was $57.26 for both of us. My daughter ate yakisoba noodles and edamame so, for the price of $13 for her, they are making a killing off of the kids. With that being said, money is not the issue, the service is. Here's the thing....I tipped $80 (on top of the $57.26) because i didn't want to punish the people that actually worked (this is not a joke and I'm sure the workers from yesterday can attest to my tip = 4 x $20 bills). If i tip that much for bad service, imagine what i would've tipped for excellent service? Unfortunately, we will not be back any time soon. I will try out the other all you can eat places in the area before i ever decide to return.
Stop making people feel uncomfortable and rushed. Shame on you. Don't open an all you can eat, if you don't want people EATING ALL THEY CAN. I get that some people probably do come in and eat way more than others, but that was not the case with us and I'm so disappointed in the service. I wanted to love it, but unfortunately it didn't work out that way.
Do better. You're losing...
Read moreThis was our second trip to this location. While all the wait staff look in touch, it has faltered a bit with both visits. Both instances we were missing ordered items at least once or twice, each time we came. Each time we were told the staff would check on those extremely late items on our AYCE dine in, and never recieved follow up. Just an offering of a new menu to order more items, which can be a concern about your original order coming head to head with your new order if the chefs actually follow through with the original order after you make the second. If it's not clear, this joint charges you for ANY leftovers such as a half bite of rice. Add on to that, your party only has 90 minutes during lunch to finish eating and 2hrs during dinner. A bit of concern when you're waiting on items you've ordered previously, 2 waiters have claimed they would check on it, then as your meal has progressed after waiting you're asked if you want a new menu...worrying about the first round coming back to bite you. When a place like this warns you heavily about being financially responsible for "leftovers", service needs to match that expectation. I know my appetite and duration of it, when you go from all service to none...you make me question if the restaurant is trying to get one over on us. When I say we were missing items, I mean we were missing at least 7 items and didn't want that over our heads as an after meal surplus charge since we never got an answer on the previously ordered food and the "I'll check on that" without any response from multiple waiters. We waited about 40 minutes in between, before we decided it was safe to just order more food and not be charged extra.
Outside of these service issues, I will say the wasabi is powdered. Acceptable, but not matching the cost or quality of the fish. The Ikura(salmon roe) is well packed(if it arrives) and at least double the amount Kura offers with a cucumber. The seared salmon, salmon, and eel were well portioned slices for Nigiri...not just rice balls with slivers of fish. One of the biggest disappointments was the squid(Ika) Nigiri, as they usually "sear" it with a blow torch. Which changes the consistency of the squids density entirely, I'd expect it more if the menu said "seared squid". The only other complaint about the food was the asparagus beef roll, which the beef tasted like how wet dog smells. The miso soup was flavorful, the dumplings decent, and the wasabi Tako salad needed a bit more wasabi but was still mostly enjoyable to the palate.
The location is a tad small, today was a bit hectic. We came in with our 1 year old, they did have high chairs available. Wait wasn't obseen, but the main host was very dismissive to the hostess as well as our party. She was trying to tell him about our parties needs, and instead he immediately shifted to the party in front of us to say that's not important until we get to them. Often being a host you need to move on the fly and arrange for multiple parties in advance. It felt as if the hostess and us were not important enough to consider, until he got to that previous party. I don't mean that party wasn't first or important, but that he acted as if none of the rest of us were.
Parking was completely packed, we were lucky to get a spot at all. It's a small lot shared between at least...
Read moreI'm not the type to go out of my way to leave bad reviews for places, but what happened to me was completely unacceptable. My boyfriend and I were served raw chicken meat by this restaurant, and the entire ordeal was handled in unprofessional way. This incident happened around 24 hours ago, and both of us have been feeling really sick since then.
We went on Saturday afternoon around 3:30PM with a reservation. The place was about half filled, not too busy but not too slow either. We started with appetizers, one of them being chicken katsu. The katsu came out within 10 minutes of ordering, but it was extremely oily to the point that it looked partially wet. I overlooked it and started eating. Thought something tasted off right away but didn’t really think too much about it or examine the meat. I should have. By the third piece, this AWFUL texture hits me, I finally look closely at the meat, and see that it’s RAW. As you can see in the picture, the meat wasn’t just a little raw, it was mostly uncooked.
Upon the realization, I start feeling nauseous, and I call over the waitress to let her know. The waitress was very apologetic, and takes the katsu into the kitchen. She comes back and asks us if we wanted it to be remade, but at that point I was too grossed out to eat anything else. We sat there for about 10 more minutes just processing what had happened, looking visibly upset, but no other restaurant staff or manager came to mediate the situation.
This is a serious issue that could have really put me and my partner’s health and safety in danger. As someone who worked in the food industry for 4 years, I understand that running a restaurant is not easy, and mistakes happen. However, the fact that this restaurant treated this extremely dangerous situation so lightly made me upset. I believe that this matter was handled in an incredibly unprofessional and neglient manner. It felt like the whole restaurant was hiding behind our waitress. We waited for a reasonable amount of time for any kind of resolution, but they just continued serving food that we’d ordered before as if nothing had happened. They could have at least offered the comp the meal, and the manager should have stepped up and took action before we had to do something ourselves.
After sharing this incident with some friends and acquaintances, I was told by someone that they were also served raw chicken katsu by sushi kushi a couple weeks back. This does not seem like just a one time mistake. If that is true, then this place is a health hazard.
So for anyone considering to dine here, I would reconsider. If you have to go, definitely avoid the chicken katsu.
I know that this might seem over dramatic for some, but this experience has truly been traumatizing. Nothing will ever make me want to revisit this restaurant. Mistakes happen, but when such a grave error is handled so poorly, it truly shows that a restaurant does not care about...
