If you love mangos, this is the place for you. They have so many mango based desserts and a display of some of the more popular items nearby their entrance. The environment is fun and inviting. I ordered the Mango Chewy Ball, Mango and Coconut Sago, Mango Pudding, and the Durian Pancake.
The Mango and Chewy Ball was good but I think I would have gotten a better tasting if I had ordered the Mango and Coconut or something else. Definitely feels overpriced for what I ordered but the bowl was delicious. The balls are just mochi balls. You can tell that the item was made with fresh mango and only the sweetest and best. I loved how cool, sweet, and refreshing the bowl was. I wouldn't mind getting it again, but I would prefer to try something else.
The Mango and Coconut Sago drink was delicious. Similar to the Mango and chewy ball bowl, but in a cup. Cool, sweet, and refreshing.
I could have gone without ordering the mango pudding. It wasn't even pudding like, more jello like and isn't as sweet as the bowl or drink that we got. It didn't taste -bad- but paled in comparison.
The durian pancake is a durian crepe. If you love durian, you'll like this. They have real durian chunks covered in a neutral tasting whipped cream wrapped in a green, pandan like crepe tortilla. The chunks are big. It's like one big whollop of durian.
Overall, not a bad experience. I would go back. I love mangos and desserts so this is perfect for me. It does feel like something I can make at home but the quality of the mangos feel really high so maybe it is worth it to treat myself here every...
Read moreI first discovered Hui Lau Shan in Houston and instantly fell in love, so when I found out there's one in Dallas, you know I had to check it out! We got there early—one of the first customers of the day—which turned out to be a smart move.
The servers were friendly and quick with our order. And let me just say: if you're a mango lover, this is your paradise. From mango drinks to desserts, they’ve got it all. The shop has a few tables if you want to dine in, but it looks like a lot of people opt for takeout too.
One cool thing that sets this place apart? Their containers and utensils! Everything is neatly wrapped in paper—spoons, straws, the works. It’s the little details like that that make it feel extra clean and thoughtful.
Budget around $10 per person, which is pretty fair for a sweet treat this good. Just a heads-up: it’s located in a busy shopping center. Early birds will have no problem finding parking, but come lunch or dinner time? Good luck. Between overly confident young drivers and a few reckless ones, the parking lot becomes its own kind of adventure.
Overall, Hui Lau Shan is a fruity, mango-filled gem—worth the visit and the...
Read moreI really wanted to like Hui Lau Shan in Carrollton because their desserts are usually a treat, but this location completely missed the mark — especially when it comes to customer service. It was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a dessert shop.
The staff was completely indifferent — no greeting, no eye contact, no effort to explain anything on the menu. It felt like we were bothering them just by walking in. Even when we asked simple questions, they responded with attitude or just ignored us. No thank you, no smile, no basic decency you’d expect from any service-oriented business.
It’s disappointing when a brand with such a strong reputation lets service slip this badly. A good dessert isn’t enough when the overall experience leaves such a bad taste.
I won’t be coming back to this location — and honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless management makes some...
