We travelled to Irving for work and decided to check out Hmart, where we stumbled across the foodcourt and Mr. Dumplings caught the attention for I never really tried fresh mandu. I liked kimchin dumplings the most and my husband loved their chiumai. I was hesitated at first scanning through the bad reviews here for common rude customer service. But I used to wait in college and sometimes, serving traditional cultural food to foreign customers is not always an easy and fun ride. It's the food court not a steak house so lower the expectation a little bit and show a bit more understanding and respect to each other, life would be easier for everyone including one's self. We came on Sunday busiest lunch time and every table was taken, but the male cashier was happily conversed with my husband about the ongoing war in his hometown (my husband's ethnicity is Ukrainian) and the other older lady later came out to share the discussion. They even offered him free hot tea. Overall we got very good experience with both food and the people.

Even as I was walking up , the old lady getting people’s orders was so impatient, and had a rude tone. Anyways it was our first time there and we weren’t sure how many pieces of dumplings we could order. When we asked if it could be 2 and 2 different dumplings we were told we couldn’t do that. So then we discussed which we would rather have , at this point the workers were annoyed. And we told them what we wanted they said “no sold out” even though we knew it wasn’t true, since they were going to sell us a basket of one of each at first. Anyways terrible customer service and we talked to some people there and they said the dumplings weren’t even worth it. Someone else from the back come a little later and asked if we still wanted them. We kindly declined because if they could be that rude what else could they do? Disappointing.

Mr. Dumpling is located inside of H-Mart in Carrollton. There is the H Mart grocery store itself (which is huge), then there is a food court with several restaurants. These dumplings are delicious! And they have samples of everything on display to help you choose. They have king dumplings, soup dumplings, several kinds of gyoza, both steamed and fried. They have pork, beef, chicken, veggie and combination dumplings. The dipping sauce is good as well and it comes in regular and hot. They steam the dumplings upon ordering. And the price is fantastic. I especially recommend trying the soup dumplings. They are amazing!!!! It is definitely worth the trip wherever you are coming from.

UNSANITARY EXPERIENCE:

I used to come here very often but over the years the quality and service has gone downhill but today’s visit was officially my last.

As I was throwing away the trash from my tray, including the corn husks they use in the steamer basket, the short haired woman quickly came over and yelled at me exclaiming the corn husks were NOT trash, grabbed one from my hand that was full of trash including bones from galbi we purchased from another vendor, and placed it back into the basket for re-use. I was not only taken aback by the attitude, but also how absolutely unsanitary that practice is. Taking note of this, I watched what I assume was her son cleaning up some of the trays and consolidating the steamer baskets, throwing away napkins and cups, but kept the courtesy radishes in their little dishes and consolidated them down to one before taking them away, making me think they also re-use those.

Over the years they have changed their policy to only provide utensils and sauce per each basket you purchase. When I’ve asked for additional sauce and utensils in the past, they have stated they will not provide it. I’ve always offered to purchase extra sauce as this is a fairly normal charge for restaurants, but am given no way to purchase additional utensils, only advised to share. In the past they used to provide everything according to the number of people who are dining with you.

The gentlemen who are assisting the owner are nice, and offer good service but the owner is not personable, has a lot of attitude, and only seems to offer kindness if you purchase a lot of food.

The food is definitely not worth how unsanitary the restaurant seems to operate in and the lack of service, there are A LOT of better food options in that area, let alone that H Mart alone.

I used to come here very often, and it is unfortunate the direction they’ve taken their business.

TL;DR This restaurant has gone downhill in customer service and quality over the years and is trying to cut back on costs but doing so at food...

My wife and our friends went to the h mart to eat at their food court. We stumbled upon a food stall named Mr. Dumplings. My wife was craving some dumplings. We told the owner/cashier that we would order the pork dumplings. The owner told us that pork dumplings were already sold out. She proceeded to offer us the pork soup dumplings, and we agreed to take one order. Then she asked us if that was our only order; my wife replied that's our only order. Then she asked me if I had any orders, and I replied with the same answer. She got irritated and proceeded to ask my wife if we wanted some drinks. My wife replied, No, we already have some water with us. She was furious, and she suddenly increased her voice and told us to wait for the order. We wait for our order until we receive it. The dumplings were mid-sized but not hot at all. We consumed half of the food, then proceeded to ask for a plastic bag and extra sauce for takeout. The owner's son was extremely rude to my wife. She was asking her why she would ask for a plastic bag and some sauce if our order was for here. My friends brush off this incident until the owner goes to our table and lashes out that their food tray was the blue one. We should put their food on their tray only. She was mad that we put some of the plates from other food stalls into their trays. She was extremely rude all through out our stay. Both herself and her son have this attitude towards customers. I guess ill-mannered behavior runs with the family. I will not recommend this at...

Went on Saturday because I was craving dumplings and they have my favorite here. I’ve gone numerous times & I always order the same thing. I ordered pork grilled for myself & my bf ordered the same thing for himself. The owner said we should try the soup dumplings & I said “none for me, I just want the pork” and she insisted anyways. Bf said “no thank you” & she made the comment “ she says no, so no to everything right ?” I honestly didn’t appreciate that comment she made. We sat down anyways and waited for our order. The owner changed our order without asking our permission, to half bbq pork and hand grilled pork dumplings & just handed it to us and said enjoy. I went to the register & told her it was the wrong order, we never ordered bbq pork dumplings. She attempted to argue with me saying it was the daily special and I told her we didn’t order any special and we never ordered bbq. I went back to talk to my bf and his appetite was ruined from the horrible experience so I walked back and asked for a refund and she refused saying she had already put in for the order to be redone. I asked politely again for a refund and she refused. It was literally 1 minute from me telling her she changed our order and me asking my bf what he wanted to do and him saying he didn’t want to eat there. She refused the refund and we left. Never to come here again. The lady owner is extremely rude. We used to stop in almost every 2-3 weeks, now we won’t be...
