It seems like a very cool and fun concept, although the food itself I didn't really care for. That may just be my personal taste preferences, however.
It's very bright and clean inside, with shiny white walls and TV screens showing other people eating these Korean street hot dogs. The menu is big and easy to read while you're in line, which you probably will be, because for the time being at least, it seems to be quite hyped up and popular. The menu options are simple enough - several different hot dog options, and some other items as well, including an avocado and egg toast type of item. It seemed a bit expensive at $6 for such a small product, but that's just me.
I wasn't particularly interested in the food items available here, as I am not a big hot dog person, so I didn't order anything. I didn't find myself persuaded or convinced otherwise when I tried a bite of my friend's mozzarella hot dog. I don't know if they had put sugar on it or what, but it did not go well with the fried mozzarella inside at all. I'm sure there's other options for how to order it, but either way, it honestly didn't seem very appealing. It was very dry and unappetizing, in my opinion, only tasting reasonably delectable when dousing it in mustard and sweet chili sauces in order to attempt to mask the undesirable taste of the actual hot dog itself. Even aside from the sugar or whatever it was that was sprinkled on it, the mozzarella and other ingredients inside of it weren't that good either. I'd much rather just go to Plucker's for mozzarella sticks or some other Korean spot nearby. Even my friend, who was the one that wanted to come here, didn't seem that particularly enthused by the taste of it. We haven't gone back since.
In my honest opinion, it seems kind of overhyped and overrated. You can get the ingredients that comes in these 'street dogs' in food and at places that taste much better and give you better bang for your buck. Despite the clean, bright, hip interior that tries to excite you with the videos playing on the television screens, I personally wouldn't recommend. It lacks any...
Read moreI've been waiting and waiting to check out Oh K-Dog. It's been available for a while and I forgot. I'll see an IG post and it ignited my desire to go. Finally I was working in Carrollton and it was 10 minutes away. After standing on my side hustle I tried to order something to-go but the app didn't allow me to add items to purchase. Sigh. I went on over any who. The area Oh K-Dog is located in a bustling Korean food finds. It's packed so you know anything over here will be excellent. I finally found a spot and went in as a couple of folks were leaving. The menu had so many options and they also tempted me with Egg Toast. I tried 3 items on the menu. It wouldn't have been a thing but in honor of Squid Game I ordered a Squid Ink half and half. It was okay nothing that wow'd me with flavor. The presentation is what catches your eye to purchase. I ordered the Mozza dog. Delicious! I've had cheese dogs before and it's mellow on the cheese. Not this one. The cheese pull is epic and you still get enough hot dog in the combo. I partied it with the mustard cheese sauce. It's creamy and enhances the flavor with every bite. One of the options for any item is adding cinnamon, sugar or both. I wondered how that would taste but I wanted to try it traditional version first. Loved it. I was totally full after having a little at the restaurant and finished when I got home. I didn't get to my Egg Toast the next day and can I say a 3-4 minutes in the air fryer brought back the crispy spark to the toast and just like I ordered it fresh. I was ecstatic!! Great for breakfast and if I was nearby I would definitely want one. The toast is actually garlic bread. All buttery and sinful. It's a good thing it's not that close. This was nice treat. Check it out if you are in the area. It's not a MUST have immediately but add it to your list to step out of the box for a corny dog...
Read moreThis place is delicious! Its for sure a korean hot dog. We got the potato half mozz half dog and the regular cheddar dog. They are also huge! This isnt your typical sonic sized corn dog yall. We also got it WITH sugar because thats one of the whole parts of what makes korean hot dogs/corn dogs different from american ones. Get the sugar on it if you want to actually try how they serve it in Korea. You wont regret it, its the same concept of sweet and salty. The sugar brings out the savory. Then dont just put mustard and ketchup, again this is not your typical corn dog, pile on the sauces try different things. For the potato one i put cheese mustard, ketchup, garlic mayo, and sweet chili. For the cheddar dog we did sweet chili and cheese mustard with some garlic mayo. Experiment, and try different condiments. Next time i definitely want to try an egg toast. When we went the place was definitely clean. After reading reviews and tasting it myself, i think some of the bad reviews were people who just didn't understand what a korean hot dog is and what they were going in and getting or "how it works" per say? Theres videos all over youtube about them. I think those of you who know what youre getting and youre aware already what this is, this is the best and my favorite spot for...
