Went to Pancake Hut in Carthage for breakfast while my brother was in town. Must say I was very disappointed. First of all after about 10 minutes a waitress finally brought us some water. The place was busy but not totally packed, still plenty of empty booths. About 15 minutes later she came back to us to get our orders. I had to tell her we didn't have menus yet. She apoligised and gave us some menus. (To be honest I think she was new) No problem we ordered coffee and I asked for cream for mine. She gave us our coffee right away and a little creamer pitcher. I put some cream in my coffee and the cream was thin as water and tasted terrible. I asked the waitress what it was because it sure wasn't cream. She said that it was powered cream that the cook mixes with water. Yuk! So after that I drank my coffee black. So I ordered a combination plate that includes bacon, sausage, eggs, hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, and 2 pancakes. (I planned to take a to go box home) About 20 minutes later we got our food which wasn't too long of a wait. First of all, the slice of bacon was paper thin and only about 3 inches long. The Sausage patty was decent size but burnt. The biscuits were hard as rocks, and the scrambled eggs were dry. The only decent food on the plate was the hashbrowns and the gravy. So needless to say I didn't need a togo box. To be fair my brother ordered an omelet and said it was good. So I'm not going to say that I will never go back to Pancake Hut again but it will have to be long enough that I forgot...
Read moreAfter a second visit, both of which were unsatisfactory I believe that it is now fair to submit this review. This is real simple, I tried very hard to find anything positive to include here but it just isn't possible. The bacon had been cooked long ago and was cold, the English muffin was cold and not toasted and splashed with butter, the sausage? patty was cold and unedible, the hash browns were cold, the sunny side up eggs were way too runny as if very undercooked, the pancakes were passable. The service was nonexistent and the cook by his body language clearly didn't want to be there. This lack of standards and quality was even surprising to me so I went back and checked my notes and pictures and concluded that everything here is fair and in context but I did miss a high point in the visit. The diet Dr Pepper in the can ($1.49) actually was delicious. Congratulations on officially being placed on my list of top 5 worst restaurants I have visited in the...
Read moreI live down the street and this place was not a good experience. Finally went after hearing that it wasn't anything to brag about and that's absolutely correct. The tables, chairs, and baby chair were grimy to the touch. I ordered coffee and cup had a thick ring half way down. I asked for another cup and that was dirty as well. The waitress acted like there was a problem getting me a new cup. The hash browns were recooked.. the scrambled eggs weren't cooked right.. you know you didn't beat the eggs right when there's a bunch of white from the yolks cooking separate. Our waitress wasn't really friendly.. I felt like an outsider the whole time. She wasn't rude.. but you can see the negative thoughts going through her head. Cleanliness was horrible.. food definitely not worth paying for.. it was leftovers practically. And I didn't feel like I belonged here. Carthage Family is a lot better folks! It was just super busy that day so...
