Read moreThe place just soft opened last month so me and my wife decided to check this out. When we came in, we were welcomed warmly and when they saw we had two little kids, the staff there immediately moved to help us out, getting us set up with high chairs and later, bringing us little bowls and serving utensils so that the kids can eat easier. When we were waiting, they brought out the side dishes quickly because they saw that our kids were making a little ruckus because they were hungry, and even threw in a bonus extra portion of the sweet potato salad :) Very thoughtful and considerate overall!
In terms of the food, we ordered: the classic Kimbab the manduguk (dumpling rice cake soup) the spicy rice cake + ramen seafood pancake and the side dishes included the cheese corn, the kimchi, the potato salad.
And it was all very good!! The 2 standouts were definitely the manduguk and the cheese corn. The first had a very rich broth and was so well received that my 2 yo and my 1 yo were devouring it so quickly that they kept demanding more! And the cheese corn was sweet and not overwhelmingly cheesy which was just the right combination! :)
overall, definitely a place that i would recommend to everyone and we are definitely...
Read moreI visited Ajjuma today with my boyfriend. It was my second time there and his first. As with my previous visit, Ruth, one of our servers, greeted us promptly and seated us quickly. The restaurant is impressively clean, though it could use more decor, which I hope they’ll add soon.
We started with the fried chicken appetizer. It was a bit dry but still tasty, with a nice crunch and a sweet umami sauce. The complimentary sides included three types of fresh kimchi, all delicious, along with a soy-marinated egg and sweet cheesy corn. The egg had a subtle peppery flavor that I loved, and the corn was tender and sweet. We also had the hot lemon yuzu tea, which struck a good balance of sweet and citrusy.
For our entrees, my boyfriend ordered the ramen tteokbokki, a generously sized, well-seasoned dish with medium spice. I had the sundubu-jjigae (spicy tofu soup) with seafood. The aroma was incredible, and the soup was packed with soft tofu and a generous mix of shrimp, mussels, octopus, and scallops. The medium spice level was perfect, and I was very satisfied.
Overall, the attentive service from Sunni and Ruth, combined with the quality food, makes Ajjuma a place I highly recommend. I’ll definitely...
