Osaka Sushi Steakhouse — Restaurant in Cascade Charter Township

2 years ago, my husband and I came to Osaka, for the first time. We fell in love with the food, service and atmosphere! Ever since, we have made it a habit to visit once every few months, or so. Every time, the food and service was great. Over the last six months, we've come to eat twice, and both times were not so good. The first incident was in late December, 2016. Our waitress seemed uninterested and annoyed that we were there. The food was still OK, but the service was very hard to forget. We ordered a very simple sushi dinner, with soup and salad. The sushi came and when we asked where the soup and salad was, we were told it was forgotten. Moving on to tonight. It was about 8pm, Friday night. They were slightly busy for hibachi, but the sushi bar was pretty dead. The waitress was really slow to take our drink orders, so we immediately ordered the grilled squid as an appetizer. We waited, and waited.... Finally, the squid came and she then took our dinner orders. All I have to say is What the heck is going on?! The squid was so spicy that both of us choked from the heat, at first. We've ordered it many times, because it was delicious and perfectly cooked, but wow. It was cooked nicely, if you could stand chewing it. Meanwhile, no refills and no waitress in sight. About 20 minutes later, my sushi (no soup or salad) comes, and his soup, salad, and sushi comes. Lol. I was super annoyed at this point. I bite into what is supposed to be a spicy scallop hand roll and get a mouthful of grease! I try my spider roll, and it too was terribly greasy. This place is 10 lbs. of NOPE in a 5-lb. bag.

Either the menu's descriptions lie, or the folks in the kitchen don't care about matching it. I ordered a bowl of "seafood miso ramen"; the menu said it's miso-based noodles in a pork broth with seafood toppings. Instead, it's just miso and noodles with toppings.

About 20% of the way through my bowl, my stomach began to turn and gurgle. Before I left, I couldn't stop passing gas. None of my food was raw, but it sure tasted weird. I don't know what to compare it to. It was difficult to get through. The noodles shouldn't have to be the only enjoyable flavor in a three-element dish like ramen.

Fortunately, the atmosphere is really nice. There's no music at all, but that's much better than what most places like to put on these days, so props for that.

Our waiter was annoyingly quiet. We had him repeat almost every single sentence because he wouldn't stop mumbling. Mind you, we beat the lunch rush. There was only one other table in another corner of the room for him to speak over, and they weren't loud. The guy was nice, but yeah, communication shouldn't be that much extra work.

I couldn't eat anything the rest of the day. My stomach rarely turns. This is a place I will not be...

I’m currently here to have dinner for my daughter’s birthday. I called ahead and made a reservation. We were seated promptly and than after 15 minutes our drink orders were finally taken along with our appetizer order and food. Our appetizers came about 10 minutes later and not even 3 minutes behind that, was our hibachi chef. Still no sign of our drinks. We waited half way through our very unenthusiastic hibachi chef’s presentation before I finally got up and asked where our drinks were. Mind you this is now 35 minutes after we were sat in the hibachi area. It was another 5 minutes before our simple waters and 3 pops. Our chef was extremely lackluster and boring. I’ve been coming to Osaka for many many years and we continue to come because we have always had a great time, but this may be the last time we come. When I’m spending the kind of money I am here I expect the experience to reflect the price tag. Even more so when there is a required 18% gratuity that’s automatically added the bills at the hibachi tables.
