I went into the Tool Rental section to Rent a drum floor sander to refinish my floors. I had a very nice conversation with a gentleman named Phil that was very helpful in making suggestions for my project. Unfortunately, he recommended a Oscillating style push sander that did not perform the required task to do the job. So, I loaded everything back up and went back to the store. Phil had left for the day and a very rude gentleman (Jack) standing at the counter asked me what was wrong. I explained that the Oscillating sander wouldnât even remove the clear coat. I told him I would like to return the sander and rent a drum sander that I was familiar with. His immediate annoyance was obvious and he was very short and snide as I asked him some questions about the drum sander. I had just taken the other unit home, unloaded it and tried to sand a section of the floor. It was obvious from the start that this unit clearly wasnât what I needed to complete my task. I loaded it up and returned it⌠Being I was renting a larger more expensive sander and I used the Oscillating unit for 15 minutes⌠I asked If I could get the bigger unit? His answer was snide and irritated ⌠Yes, but you need to pay the 4 hour minimumâŚ. I said Jack the unit didnât work as advertised. He seemed to ignore me and went about charging me another $150 security deposit for the new sander and all the accessories that were needed to complete my project. He made sure to elaborate that I needed to wipe the unit down completely and turn the vacuum bag inside out when I returned it. So I cleaned it up immaculately before returning to the store doing exactly as he requested. There is a 24â long chrome bent vacuum tube that connects the bag to the unit. I even removed that and wiped it down spotlessly. Unfortunately, you canât reach inside the tube as it a small diameter and has a bend to it. When I was walking in the door, I said good evening Jack and set the bag (turned inside out ) and the tube on the counter. This caused the tube to release (approximately 1 tablespoon on less ) of sawdust onto the floor. Jack yells out â Really â ??? I was completely taken back and thought for a moment he was kidding. He had his Covid mask on and proceeded to mumble under his breath , then look up and said â Just lay it over on that table â !! He said this in a very aggressive manner. I was shocked and taken back by his lack of professionalism and his anger. I responded and said â Donât bark at me Jack â !! He then again started talking under his breath about the junk POS system and he canât put in his password. I bit my tongue and went thru the return process and walked out to go buy some additional products that were needed for my home improvement needs. My wife pleaded with me to go talk to customer service which I did . A very nice gal named Brittany helped me and got one of the Managers Nate to come and help me out. Nate refunded the 4 hour minimum as he agreed I should not have been charged for equipment that didnât work. Up until this day I have spent thousands of dollars buying all of my home improvement products from Home Depot as well as buying all of my hand tools and shelving and miscellaneous for my business as well. I am so disappointed and not sure if I will be going back to Home Depot as a result. Thank you Nate & Brittany for your courtesy and professionalism and taking the time to better understand the situation. âIfâ I come back to this store, it will be because of the excellent service I have received over the years from your team. Jack on the other hand âŚ. Needs to get some help for his anger and might be time to hang up his orange gown. Store 5 starsâŚ. Jack in Tool Rental âŚ. 0 stars. Donât waste your...
Read moreWe went through Home Depot on 28th street to have new floors installed in our kitchen and entryway, and our experience was horrible from the start! We were told the installers would be to our home at 7:30/8:00 on Tuesday, we received a call at 9:30 they were running late and would be there around 12:30, by 3:30 we ended up calling the contracting company who informed us they were running late still and would be there tomorrow instead. When they finally arrived on Wednesday we were told it would be a really easy job and they would be done by the end of the day, 5 installers showed up and 3 left since it would be "so easy". By 4:30 the two installers said they couldn't finish today since they needed to level the floor but would be back the next day and finish the project tomorrow. Thursday comes and only one installer came this time he leveled the floor and said he "ran out of cement and needed to go to the store" several hours later he returned and did yet again another coat, but still couldn't finish the floor because it needed to dry, but would be back tomorrow. Same installer shows up on Friday now, and says he needed another coat to level the floor and has to leave to work on another job while it dries. He shows back up around 2:30 works until 4:30 but says he has to leave because he needs caulk but has to go to the store to get it, so he will be back tomorrow! He arrives to our house around 9:30 (Saturday day five of the project) and starts to finally install the last ½ of the flooring that needed to be installed. He takes a lunch break around 11:30 and doesnât show back up until almost 2:00pm. Around 3:00 installer says he ran out of flooring and tells us he needs to run to home depot to get more. Since we wanted the job done today and he kept making excuses, we insisted that we run out ourselves to go get the extra flooring. Around 5:00 pm, installer gets the floors finished, and then started on the quarter round but around 5:30 he tells us he now has run out of nails and cannot finish tonight. The installer said he will come back in the morning to finish up nailing in the quarter round. Sunday (day six) the installer arrives at 10:30 am in what looked like his pajama pants and he gets the quarter round installed in about 15 minutes, but says he forgot caulk so he needs to run over to the other project they are working to get some. We were told he would be back in 3-4 hours to caulk the quarter round and clean the floors where he had left over cement spots from earlier in the week, he never cleaned up. We never hear back from installer so we finally text him at 3:30 to let him know we are home waiting on him to come back. We never get a response from him so at 5:15 we texted him and tell him we will finish the caulking and cleaning of the floors ourselves.
A project we were told would be a day ended up being 6 days without a kitchen or use of our main entry way Our home was a mess everyday, they would leave and not clean up from their work day (we would sweep and put their tools away) ourselves They ran out of supplies multiple times and had to leave each time to "run to the store" which would take several hours TONS of cigarette butts were thrown in our driveway and over our fence into our backyard The whole process seemed incredibly unprofessional from start to finish. The installer seemed hung over both Saturday and Sunday, CFI (the contacting company) didnât seemed concerned that the project was taking so long, and Home Depot did nothing but say sorry for the...
Read moreI normally shop at Home Depot in Kentwood. Iâve gone there for blinds and carpeting before. I will never do it again. I purchased a carpet and was awaiting installation. I spent over $7000 on carpeting and I received a call one hour before the installation informing me that they were not coming because the carpet was defective. Apparently it is not normal for them to look at the carpeting when it comes in. They wait until the morning of the insulation to actually look at the carpet. That being said I had an entire upstairs of my house that I had to move out of the way for them to install my carpet. After moving all of our clothes and everything out of our closets along with everything off the floors in 4 bedrooms, they did not show up. I spoke with Brenden the â flooring specialtyâ manager. He promised me that Home Depot would âmake it right with meâ. He explained to me that they special ordered and rushed my new carpet for insulation and that it would be in within the week and then I would have it installed a couple days later. This did not happen. In fact, the carpet did not get installed for three weeks .There were several times I called to check on the status of my order and he said he would get back to me and never did. He made me a promise that he would talk with the installers to make sure that when the carpet came in they would look at it and check to make sure it wasnât defective as we were living with our house in disarray ( for3 weeks) because everything from upstairs had been moved to the lower two levels. This did not happen. I also called CFI the installer to ensure that they would look at it when it came in and they did not. I obviously was very upset and I asked the manager why no one would unroll the carpet and check it as I was promised. He said the warehouse is too small but that they would be discounting my carpet and he would get back to me in two days on a Monday. That never happened. I usually donât write long negative reviews however after having my carpet installed finally, my carpet is now unraveling at the top of the stairs. This is the final straw. I spoke with a different manager this morning as I refuse to deal with the specialty floor manager Brenden anymore . I find him telling me what I want to hear to make me happy and not actually following through on any of his promises. I am awaiting Home Depot to have my carpet fixed and I may reevaluate this review once that is complete however The process of getting carpet installed from them has been lengthy, frustrating, and very unsatisfying.I do not appreciate a manager making promises just to make me happy and not actually doing anything about the problem at hand. Every time I called or stopped into the store he would say, â I was just going to call youâ. I know he wasnât ever going to follow through on anything he said. Never again will I order carpet from them. CFI is the installer and 2/3 of the installers showed up so they were at my house until after 9 pm. Then, I think they were waiting for a tip ??? Iâm disappointed with the...
