Reading the other reviews, I genuinely question if we are all reviewing the same location (28th, next door to Party City).
I have been an avid Aldi shopper for years. The chain is VERY DIFFERENT from the way it was back in the 80s. Their products were terrible back then.
Today, however, it is my favorite place to do the bulk of my grocery shopping. And in fact, there are literally dozens of their branded products that my family prefers GREATLY over "name brands".
I could happily wax poetic about all the ways I love Aldi for hours, so I was thrilled to have one just around the corner!
Until I started going there.
This store is not well run, in my opinion. I'm sorry, but when you are regularly out of staple Aldi year-round products, then you need to fire whomever does your ordering.
Items on sale? No problem...I wouldn't fuss, it happens. Items you only have right around their "theme week"? Again, no problem... quantities are limited.
But cuts of pre-packaged beef that you sell year round like the carne cuts for fajitas, or the super thin slices for roulades? Your butters and cottage cheeses? Your sliced cheeses? Canned and jarred goods? Pasta?
C'mon, there's no excuse for that.
Sadly, the produce at this location is often lacking in quality and/or in quantity as well.
While the cashiers here are fast and friendly, the delay before opening a second+ register for a long line is crazy. I have been in line several times where we are nearly at the back of the store with 7+ customers and their full carts ahead of us...and no additional cashiers in sight.
It's also often hard to find someone stocking if you have a question.
All of this is VERY different than our experiences at a few dozen Aldis we have frequented over the years. My husband was an engineering contractor for years, taking us all over the country. First order of business in every new city: find the Aldi.
I am frankly shocked at the conditions at this location. It is sadly reminiscent of the 80s stores. Very dingy seeming, no employees in sight, shelves messy and items out of stock.
Yes, some visits have been better than others, but I've given up on using this location for anything more than grabbing a case of water when we run low. I go to one of the other ones down 28th or in SE Wyoming to do the bulk of my shopping now.
I won't give up Aldis over one badly...
Read moreI had an unpleasant interaction with the cashier Jason today (Sunday 8/4/2024 @ 10:20am) he was extremely rude to me and it seemed racially driven, as the customers prior to me and after me he was pleasant to in which they looked similar to him. When it was time to pay he told me my total three times while I had my debit card in my hand. I heard him give me the total ALL three times. He proceeded to look at me in an irritated manner as I was not using the card reader. The only reason I didn’t use the card reader was because I couldn’t! It was waiting for him to complete his portion of the check out process and he failed to click a button.
I tried to tell him that he needed to finish something because nothing is coming up on the card reader. Instead of him looking to see what I was talking about to correct it, he told me he was getting a supervisor as if it was a problem. He was very rude and irritated during this entire process.
I told him I did not need a supervisor just for him to complete what he needed to on his end and he finally looked at the card reader and noticed the problem was him and not me.
I told him he was looking at me like I was an idiot and I was waiting for him to finish his portion. He then proceeds to tell me he’s just working this job while he finishes college like that was suppose to make it all okay.
That interaction was extremely distasteful and I didn’t understand what the...
Read moreFor those who aren't familiar with this store, Aldi is a discount supermarket chain that is based in Germany. The stores carry name brand items at a lower price, their own store brand items which are usually much lower in price than named brand products( but not lesser in quality) and they bring in seasonal items over from all over, including Europe; I personally buy the German style bratwurst on a regular basis. They are able to keep their prices lower due to keeping minimal staff, having carts that require a quarter to be used (which encourages people to put them back) and do not offer disposable plastic bags; instead, you can bring or even purchase a variety of reusable bags, which is great for the environment. Their checkout lanes are also quite fast and you will not see yourself standing around in line too long, even on a busy night. My only complaint about the store is that it can get quite crowded in there, especially when they stock during bush hours. Beyond that, this is my #1 stop whenever I go grocery shopping and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. I highly recommend Aldi...
