I normally have a good experience at Jimmy John’s, so I am not going to judge them completely on this. However, this experience was particularly bad.
I ordered my sandwich at about 1:00 this afternoon through the app. At about 1:35, I got a notification that my sandwich was on my way. At 2:00, I called the store to see if the driver was lost or something (the place I was having it delivered to was only a mile from the store). The person that answered the phone told me that they only had one driver, and it should be here soon. She couldn’t give me an actual time, however, and she didn’t really offer any apology. Some extra communication, like calling immediately after the order was placed to let me know it would be late, would have gone a long way. So would apologizing.
The sandwich was delivered about 10 minutes later, and to be fair, the driver was well mannered and polite.
As expected, the sandwich was soggy by the time it reached its destination. I think it was made immediately and then just sat in the store. But the worst part was there was a small piece of plastic in the sandwich! I am not sure what exactly, but it felt like a piece off a plastic knife. Had I started eating the sandwich from the other end, I would absolutely be asking for a refund. Unfortunately, I found the plastic piece at the end of my sandwich.
Again, USUALLY my experience is great, but this one was not. They need to increase their quality control, and make an extra effort to be better at their...
Read more*update: I raised to 3 stars since they appear to have cleaned house and at least make sandwiches now instead of the last crew staying out back and smoking with their friends ignoring their jobs. Bread was rock hard/stale and near inedible though, but the staff seems to be trying now at least, and I was able to get food that time, and a 2nd visit produced a real edible sandwich finally along with 2 staff that were friendly and doing their jobs, so I have hope for my former favorite shop now.
Tried to eat here 5 times over the last year, could not get a sandwich any time because they were always out of meat, cheese, bread. They were always hanging out behind the shop with friends, smoking. They appear to do that instead of work, as I've driven by 10 or 15 times going to Jersey Mike's instead, and often see the employees behind the shop instead of working. Jimmy John's is by far my favorite, but I can't even throw my money at this shop as they don't appear to care about doing work to prep cheese, meats, and breads. My time of visits have been between 2pm and 7pm, and they tell me to "come back...
Read more4 Stars for the Food. 1-Zero Stars for delivery issues. I absolutely love Jimmy John's! Sometimes the bread is a little too tough though. (the reason for 4 stars) The delivery issues...well... let's start a petition online to get J.J.'s to widen their delivery radius a little. Not an expert, but assuming most of the restaurants in the area are serving up to 3–4 miles and definitely not more than 5. This is considering the fact that 50% time will be taken to prepare, pack and dispatch the food and rest 50% for transit, finding address and delivering it. Assuming anything between 30–40 minutes is acceptable and will be considered good service, we can assume food prep and delivery will take 15 mins each + buffer of 10 mins for traffic conditions and other unexpected events. I live 2.9 miles away and it's a straight shot down 2nd street for my address. Wouldn't take more than 7-8 minutes to deliver. I can order an unhealthy pizza from Pizza Ranch down the street from you a little... or I would like to try and buy a little bit healthier option from you. What say you...
