Would not go here to celebrate a special event. My husband and I made reservations to celebrate our 14th weeding anniversary. The food was great but this was the worst service I have ever had. If your servers name in Antonio G, get up and go to another restaurant!!! From the host not asking us to follow him and just assuming we knew where he was walking to, waiting over 20 mins for warm water I had to pour my self( the only table that had to do that) from our drink order being taken by the busser, a different server bringing out our drink order and when our server finally got to our table he started by stating " I was busy with another table" very rude, then stood there I asked if we could order an appetizer, he stated "yes", he asked if we had been there before we told him no, he quickly ran through the menu but we could not hear him at all. We were sat in the middle of several different table, as we were celebrating our anniversary I was very disappointed with this sitting arrangement since me and my husband could not hear each other talk from all the noise. Btw a lot of other tables were available away from the busy side of the restaurant. After running through the menu he added "you get a free dessert since your celebrating". That itself was rude, considering his brief interaction with us. it just got worse after this. The app came out. had to ask for a saucer plate, had to ask for silverware for my husband, This was very time consuming since Antonio G. the server would not come back to check on us. Waited over 20 mins for a beer for my husband, it wasn't even draft just bottle. Finally the food came out and it was brought to the side of our table by another server that left and we waited for our server to come and serve us our dinner that had been sitting next to my husband in a tray. Very disappointing. I ordered another drink mid meal, the drink was brought to us after the main course at this point we asked for the check since we were upset. Antonio G, then takes the side of papa asada away without asking and yes I was still working on it, I was furious. Then asked if we wanted our free dessert. I was very upset. He ruined a night we had planned out for a while , we got a sitter and to be treated like that. Me and husband both started off as server as young adults so I have a lot of compassion and we are both decent tippers but THIS WAS THE WORST SERVICE I...
Read moreWe have visited Tu Asador in castle hills on many occasions, some on the whim and more for special occasions as my husband is a fan of their meats, we decided to celebrate his 43rd birthday with our children.
I have a toddler who has food aversions and eats a specific diet and we had her food with us and I mentioned this to the waiter before taking the food out and he said “ well they let you in so it should be fine” so we proceeded with taking out her container of food from home so she could eat. Then about 10 mins in, we had a assistant manager come up to us stating “ he doesn’t want to be that guy, but no outside food is allowed” and that “I guess they would allow it to slide this time” but it was not allowed.
I explained that we have a child who has sensory food aversions and doesn’t eat anything from outside her specific diet and he still was not accommodating, so I basically told him no problem, I would be happy to discuss this with the manager…two seconds later a manger comes to our table and explains they don’t allow outside food and drinks ( understandable) it’s not like I came with bags of takeout from Olive Garden & Chick fil a, I came with a discreet stainless steel container with her scrambled eggs and some fruit—that’s it. She proceeded to tell me that it’s policy and that it’s a liability issue regarding contamination of food, etc. —blah blah blah.
So when they allow service dogs to come in, is that considered sanitary? Or contaminated? What about a breastfeeding mother trying to feed her child by breast or bottle? Is that considered contamination? A liability? A health hazard to society?!?
So let me get this straight —those things are “A-ok” but when it comes to the right of feeding my child due to her special needs , I can’t do that?
So instead of having a memorable dinner with my husband and kids, my husband had to finish his dinner and take my child out to our vehicle so she could eat her food in the car. Thank you so much Tu Asador for the utmost hospitality & understanding.
$300.00 down the drain and I will NEVER come back to your establishment. This type of restaurant has no business in...
Read moreDear fellow foodies! My apologies for wondering if we went to the same place (I saw some 4 stars...what?) My experience and view of the spot clashes with yours. I would love to start a chat about "defining" how to rate more accurately a place...for now, where did you go? lol.
We ordered 2lbs of skirt steak, 4 beers, literally 4 small cups of charro beans and some steam veggies; the most painful $200 dollars I've ever coughed.
I guess any place that does not give you food poising of kills you deserves mention. LOL.
I visited "Tu Asador" for the 1st time this weekend and while the spot is okay in terms of aesthetics, the food presentation was ordinary or average, the hosting is still a work in progress for I had to walk to the bar to figure out seating. A manager seemed handled the seating for us at the time (not a big deal) however, another group wanted to seat and because some of their party had not arrived there was a question mark as to when they could be sat (it sounds reasonable) However, from where I was seating, 90% of the place was empty. In any case, we waited rather long given the volume of customers ( in my opinion) but it is not a big deal. The biggest issue I had and we only stayed to actually complete this experience as food lover, is that as soon as we sat and looked at the menu THERE IS NO WAY ON THE PLANET where their menu, including the type and style of cooking WARRANTS SUCH A BIG PRICE TAG; Beyond this, my review is simple: look at their menu before you go. Look at their type of food and pricing and after you have paid $28 dollars for an 8oz cut of meat or $35 per pound for skirt steak on the cheap end, you will realize that there some many other places with far better aesthetics and justly priced. Where was the live music or any music for that matter?!!!!
I calculate that the average person will be paying about $50 per plate at the end of the experience. Simply stated, I wish them good luck in the restaurant industry with such a price tag and such average overall...
