Panera Bread — Restaurant in Cathedral City

What happened to this place?? Came here a few months ago for a Cuban sandwich. It was amazingly good (and I'm pretty fussy about my Cubans). Came back today for another one. What a disappointment! There was no lunch menu on display, so we ordered from the kiosks. There was no prompt to take a cup, so we didn't. No receipt. Took a pager and put it on the table. Their "system" for finding you consists of wandering around the dining room with your order until they find you (and your food is cold). The Cuban was very disappointing. All the meat was on one end. It was supposed to be a panini; it wasn't. It was essentially a sub. If I wanted a sub, I'd have gone to the Subway across the street for half the price. Fruit cup my husband order didn't show up with his sandwich; it eventually arrived after he complained. The cookie he ordered never showed up; we left without it. I'm not done yet! Dining room was dirty (tables and floor). Someone came by and asked if everything was OK. I asked why my sandwich wasn't a panini; she said she just started and (essentially) had no idea. Pleasant enough, but clueless. So much for training. And apparently they don't train their sandwich makers either. So this was a mistake; but it'll be a long time before we make that...

Houestly it was super expensive for what it was. I never really complain about price at panera because most people realized that you pay a little more for certain perks but apparently I have been the only one believing this unspoken rule at this place. The whole experience was off to broken down booth seats to just utter mess everywhere inside. Just overall dissapointment. Menu was interesting since it looks like they offer overpriced Flatbread pizzas now so thats interesting, they are branking out experimenting. But if we can not even do what tour known for right just stop.Broccoli chedar soup had wierd congealed strings of what im hoping it strands of cheese( not stretchy almost like the inner fibers of a squash. If that helps).Sandwich potions have changed drastically which if your making portions smaller and raising prices I feel like you just shafting me at that point. I don't know it a nice place to sit and camp out for a couple hrs what is what the other 3 people sitting down look like they have been doing for quite a while. Bathrooms are dated and kind of sketchy but serves a purpose.

On the outside this place looks great, need to empty trash more and clear out the stacks of plates, but the real issue is the restroom. It was disgusting. Clearly they do not clean it at all and have not in years. How its passing health inspection is mind blowing. They would get hit hard in Texas. Urine stains everywhere from the urinals to the commodes to the floor. They are just dirty and not wiped down.

On the upside is a shift leader named Shawn. At first, a bit scary with all the tats, but this guy knows customer service and they are lucky to have him. He is friendly and was able to handle multiple tasks/customers at a time with a smile and a positive attitude that was not fake.

So overall, the people are great, but scared to clean. So if the restrooms that they themselves use are this bad, how bad is the kitchen? How clean can it really...
