Fantastico's Mexican Food 2 — Restaurant in Cave Creek

Fantasic (as it's name implies) might be a bit of a stretch, but I guess Very Goodos wouldn't be as catchy. This is a humble little place in a small shopping plaza, with tables and chairs that show some wear and tear. Locals we spoke with, who have been coming here for years, say the food is consistently good and a deal for the money, but they no longer recognize any of the employees and aren't sure if ownership has changed or not. The burritos are a bargain and while the recipe and presentation seem very simple, the red sauce is craveable. The best test of most places is whether or not you want to go back, and I am definitely looking forward to a return visit. My main caveat is that the plastic knives and forks they offer are kept out in a tray near the soda machine, which means who knows how many hands have touched them before you. Buyer beware!

I love the food at this restaurant, but the woman who speaks both English AND Spanish fluently has no idea how to handle customers or complaints.

They offer an option on Google to order pickup with doordash for no fee, so that's what I did. Everything was fine until I went to pick up the order and the woman behind the counter said she wasn't sure if I paid, so had me pay when picking up. Everything is fine except when I get home I find out Doordash already charged me. I call and ask for them to refund me and they say that it's impossible and I must resolve with doordash because "we paid you when we weren't supposed to." They didn't pay anything, I paid them money and they won't refund me. the reason they won't refund me is because they must pay a fee to doordash and they don't want to. I'll be sure to follow up with doordash as they suggested, but just be careful! They don't care about the customer...

The food always looks so much better than it tastes. The rice is bland, and flavorless. There's no taste of Mexican spices, none of the veggies that most delicious Mexican rice has. The beans are also bland, and flavorless. They could use some spices. The burritos are delicious, on certain days when the tortillas aren't all dry and cracked. The salsa is sad because it lacks deliciousness and flavor. The salsa is extremely basic, just like the chains, except less flavorful. It's like the soul was taken out of the food and the shell is all that's left. It looks so much better than it is and I don't understand why I want more. It makes no sense.
