We were looking for a bakery stop after a nice morning hike. Thought this would fit the bill. First impressions were that there was a lot of tasty looking items here. But after a couple of questions that the owner did not answer in a straightforward way, I felt like we were imposing.
My wife had a pain au chocolat which she said was delicious. After a weird run around about cheese cake (there weren't labels on the product in one case, so I had questions), including some comment about 'you just walked by the Black Forest (I think) cakes there', I finally got my cheesecake. It was good. Our granddaughter asked for a pretzel which was warmed in the microwave. The owner confirmed that we were eating it here. We ate outside and could tell our granddaughter wasn't happy with the pretzel. I tried it and it was the driest pretzel I've had. We went back inside to get her something else and I commented that the pretzel was very dry. The owner said 'that's the way Bavarian pretzels are. We dip ours in melted butter'. WHAT? You dip yours in melted butter but send customers out the door with a dry, warm pretzel? How about you offer melted butter? Or maybe tell customers that you might want to take it home and melt some butter to help the dough wad slide down!
I appreciate fresh made pastries. I'm sure they work hard to make their product. We all work hard, but to spend almost $30 on this snack was unsatisfying. After reading her replies to other complaints I'm sure I'll get a snarky comment in return, but just know that you have been warned. I'm not typically a complainer, but when I pay good money for rude service and, in my opinion, an inferior product, I must...
Read moreI wish I would've checked the reviews before stopping here. The baked goods are garbage. Truly one of the worst bakeries food-wise that I've ever been to. I was shocked because everything looked amazing in the cases. We tried an almond croissant, cherry cheese danish, a raspberry scone, and a slice of chocolate cake. The scone was spongey. The almond croissant tasted nothing like what one should, nor was it the texture of a normal croissant. The cake was dry and lacked flavor- the majority of the flavor I tasted was that of what had been absorbed by the fridge or freezer it had been kept in.
The prices are also unjustifiably high at almost $7 per pastry item. I hate writing bad reviews on small businesses, but I also hate predatory small businesses. There's a sign on the register that says no refunds on their food for any reason, which leads me to believe they have these issues quite often. Judging from the owner responding to previous reviews, I'd say this establishment firmly believes in the owner always...
Read moreThis was one of the few times I went somewhere without reading the reviews and boy do I regret it. The owner was discretely rude from the beginning, but it got worse and worse the longer we were in there. I asked for 2 cinnamon sticks and she put 3 in the bag (which we did not see) and of course charged me for 3. The apple turnover WAS great, but that’s the only nice thing I have to say. The prices are laughable and the quality of the cinnamon sticks and almond pastry was just garbage. She couldn’t answer a single question with a straight answer, every response was snippy and uncalled for, even the answers to the questions no one asked. For example… we asked do you guys have any donuts? She says this is a German bakery I don’t deep fry anything (and proceeds to rant about being against deep frying pastries)… um ok, do you have donuts or not? Upon reading other reviews and seeing the owners response it’s clear that she’s blatantly rude and disrespectful and just doesn’t care. Steer clear of this place...
