I had heard quite a bit about the famous Five Guys French fries. There was a TikTok video of a Five Guy employee showing how they prepared fries that garnered a lot of views and positive comments. So when driving to Roanoke on the day before Thanksgiving and (you guessed it) spending hours in traffic, when we saw a Five Guys sign we decided to check out their fries.

This was my first visit to their place. Being lacto vegans we rarely visit burger places. As can be seen from the pics, the inside are a bright red and white. The place has an interesting motif of peanuts - a nod to the fact that they their cooking is in peanut oil which tends to be healthier for high heat cooking. They had a prominent sign advertising that they needed help and paid up-to $23 per hour. But I digress.

The fries were great! We could see clearly that they were being cooked in a separate container so there is no meat cross contamination that happens in typical fast food places. For instance the vegan burgers in Burger King clearly say that they have been prepared in a facility that processes meat. This means they will be using the same oil, cooking instruments and surfaces for both. In Five Guys care is taken to isolate them. This is crucial for people like me who are vegan for religious purposes.

The fries are certainly not cheap. An order to large fries were $7.40! But the quantities were generous. Unlike the typical fries that are thin and crisp these fries are on the thicker side with crisp skins and softer insides. I am guessing they get this consistency by flash frying the potatoes in very hot oil. They use only peanut oils and their potatoes (also on display) are supposedly specifically sourced for their fries.

All in all we enjoyed the fries. Highly...

I haven't seen this level of customer service in a long time. Yes, the food was great. It was correct, hot, and fresh; however, the real star here is the customer service. I called in after 9pm, yesterday. The younger lady who answered the phone was phenomenal. She was friendly, quick, and so polite. Even though I rushed to get there because I have worked in food in the past and didn't want to be late, I got there 10 till 10. The cooks dropped the fries fresh for me. The staff was super friendly. I didn't feel rushed or anything. They spoke to me and were so polite.

If you are the manager or owner, please take note of this. I don't leave reviews for average experiences. Your staff of Thursday night, August 1st, is beyond wonderful. Seriously, all of them. I am newer to the area and I will most definitely be back and I will most definitely recommend this establishment. I could not have asked for a better experience...

Stopped at Five Guys to support local restaurants. Ordered food outside with polite employee. There were two guys eating thee dinner at the tables next to the door under a sign stating not to. He ask them to more and there requested refills on there drinks. The employee being a nice guy took there Paper cups back into the store and refilled them. One of the two was coughing while drinking from the cup. Never removing the gloves he had on. I confronted the employee telling him he just contaminated the store and he disagreed with me. I told him I would let social network decide. PS I have worked in a operating room for over 40 years and know when something is contaminated. Will not be back to Five Guys and also more concern about other places as well. Trying to balance supporting local restaurants against my health. For time being will be...

This restaurant is located in Tanglewood mall with an exterior entrance as well as an indoor entrance allowing access from both inside the mall as well as from the outside of the mall, for those that just want to pop in for a quick bite and not bother with any shopping. The portion sizes are very large, a "little" burger is a normal size, so unless you have a very healthy appetite or are feeding multiple people, I would suggest the "little" burgers instead of the ones with out the "little" designation. The fries are excellent! They are made from fresh potatoes and can be Soderling or plain. Five Guys offers peanuts while you wait for your order, so be aware of you are allergic to peanuts. They offer a wide variety of beverages because the drinks they offer are the newer style soda machines that offer about 50 flavors of soda products.

Ordered web and was told 6-11 minutes. Drove 15 minutes and had to wait another 15-20 for the order to be ready. Then found they made both burgers wrong. Ordered a burger with k&m with jalapeños and mushrooms. Got a cheeseburger with jalapeños and k&m. The other was a cheese burger with lettuce, tomato, green peppers, etc, got a burger with lettuce, jalapeños, k&m. The only thing they got correct were the fries. They did say they would credit my card. It’s a shame because the last couple times the order was wrong. The burgers are good when you get them how you want them. For $12+ a burger, it’s too much to pay only to get the wrong item.
