UPDATE: In response to the owner’s reply to my original review, I want to clarify a few key points.
First, the 15% carryout fee was not disclosed anywhere at the time I placed my order! Not on their menu, and not when I placed my order over the phone. And despite what the owner claims, the fee was clearly calculated AFTER tax, not before. I was quoted a total that included only the items and tax, and then the 15% was added afterward with no warning.
For the record, I went ahead and attached a copy of their menu (posted publicly by another reviewer), which clearly shows no mention of any carryout surcharge. That lack of transparency speaks for itself.
Second, I find it incredibly unprofessional that the owner accused me of “screaming” at a staff member. That never happened. I calmly asked, in a reasonable manner, why I was charged more than quoted. Trying to portray a customer as aggressive for just asking a fair question that almost any other individual would ask who is being overcharged, says a lot more about the business than it does about me.
The food was decent, but the surprise fee and the owner’s hostile and defensive response make it clear that this place lacks both transparency and professionalism. I recommend others think twice before supporting a business that treats customers this way.
BUYER BEWARE: Wilbo’s Burgers Brats & Beers charges an additional 15% fee if you order carryout, and even worse, that fee is calculated AFTER the tax is added!
I called to place an order and was told it would be ready in about 25 minutes. They gave me a total over the phone that reflected the items + tax. There was no mention whatsoever of a 15% surcharge for simply picking up my own food.
When I arrived I found out the real total is calculated as: Items + Tax = Subtotal. Subtotal + 15% = what you ACTUALLY pay.
When I asked the manager about it, they told me the fee was to “help the chefs in the back.” I responded: “Maybe you should pay them what they deserve instead of dumping your responsibilities onto your customers!”
We ordered the Wilbo Combo as an appetizer, plus a Build Your Own hamburger and The Spicy One brat. The food was decent; won’t deny that.
However, the lack of transparency and the way they shift their responsibilities onto customers is unacceptable. I will definitely NOT be coming back. I recommend others who are ordering from them to check your bill carefully...
Read moreThe burgers are good but the sides are not worth it. I’ve been there about 6 times over the past year and a half and as previously stated the burgers are good but pricey. The sides are disappointing mostly because you’re paying for them on top of the burger cost and are usually greasy or not fully done.
At lunchtime I like to compare burgers to what Longhorn has to offer…for 9.99 you get a good burger with a regular side and here you pay extra for the side. So a burger, side, and a drink even at lunch would easily cost one person close to $20 here. For that kind of money I could eat at Olive Garden and get unlimited salad or Texas Roadhouse and get unlimited bread which is a good perk when paying that kind of money for one person.
Related to the sides, the onion rings are probably my favorite but they can be hit or miss meaning sometimes they need to be cooked longer to avoid being soggy or drenched in grease. The crunch Mac and cheese is not worth it at all unless you like a bunch of grease and there’s very little Mac and cheese involved. The fries like some of the onion ring experiences can also be soggy and are greasy.
If there was a better value or if the sides were cooked more consistently then I would’ve given the place a...
Read moreFirst time here and I couldn’t be happier. When we walked in there were no tables, so the bartender sat us at the bar and began serving us. As soon as a table became available, other customers were seated in the order we arrived. The bartender took our dinner order, and when a table opened offered us to go there. Food took a little bit to come out, but when we got it we saw why. The burger patties are hand pressed and cooked to perfection. They were juicy, but NOT greasy (except for the sautéed mushrooms and onions). The french fries were to die for, but the kicker was the hand made onion rings with garlic ranch.
The entire menu leave you options, especially on the burgers. Pick your number of patties, pick any toppings you want, and pick a side, or just go with the burger alone. I cannot speak for the quality of the brats or hot dogs, but I can only assume that they would be just as good.
The staff was hustling and in their game all night. I was fascinated watching the bartender make and serve drinks so fast, same with the entire staff. I could not find an unhappy customer in the place.
If you are looking for dinner in a rush, be prepared to wait. BUT it is...
