Chocolaterie Stam - Cedar Falls — Restaurant in Cedar Falls

I was fortunate enough to taste gelato for the first time in Italy back in 2014, where I ended up eating it 2-3 times a day during my stay because I loved it so much. Since then, I’ve traveled across the country multiple times and even lived near LA (trying every gelato place I could find) but Stam’s is by FAR the best gelato I’ve found, and the closest you’ll ever get to the real thing.

The location in Ames told me that this small, family-owned chain uses an Italian gelato machine and tries to keep their recipes as authentic as possible.

I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but their chocolate is also phenomenal.

Wow, just wow. Everything is so pretty. I found myself looking at the chocolates for at least 20 minutes because they are all so beautiful and very well molded. They have so many options to choose from. And the atmosphere in it so nice and classic I feel like you would be underdressed if you were not wearing a monocle. I want to love this store. So much. It's beautiful, the service is great, the gelato is decent but the chocolates just aren't good to me. I go back again and again thinking I'm missing something bc of all the amazing reviews but the bonbons are always so sweet and waxy, they remind me of Russel Stover's.
