Cliff's Dive Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Cedar Rapids

We stopped around 630 pm on a friday. We were downtown using VEO scooters and wanted to find a place to have a drink and a quick bite. Found this new place and walked in. It was insanely loud and there was a huge party of about 10 plus people right in walkway of the front door who were obviously overserved and heckling me right as I walked in. We found a table and sat down to wait about 5 to 10 minutes for anyone to notice us. Granted the service was great afterwards but this party kept getting louder and screaming. Yet the bar kept serving them. Another mother and her 3 daughters walked in and had to move several table away from them as they were so loud. Granted they were only matching nightclub volume of the music playing. The beer selection here is vague and almost all dark ir IPA's so i ordered a domestic . Our food came out fast but honestly it's not worth the price as you could make most of this at home. Very little imagination. I think this is a "dive" bar with a identity crisis. What was ultimately the point I refused to come back is when the manager clearly came up to us and asked if the food was alright and we didn't complain but did nothing to stop these drunk fueled party guests or calm them down for other patrons who were clearly annoyed. My friends and I went there Friday night for food and had a delicious meal. After working the whole day at wrestling nationals on Saturday night, we went back to have a few drinks. It was 1:30 a.m. when they made last call. One person in our group went up to grab another drink while the rest were finishing our drinks. While the bartender was selling a drink to our friend, one of the workers came up and told us we have to go and they were closing. I looked at the clock and it said 1:35 a.m. We were a bit shocked because they called last call 5 minutes ago and we thought we had 15-20 minutes to finish our drinks and head out. The employee kept on coming back and telling us to get our aggressively. I checked the website and they said they close at 2 a.m. There were a few others in the bar and they were not forcing them out. We left but will never go back! I think they have good ideas on paper, menu is exciting and different, but everything I have ordered the last 2 times has missed the mark.

Chili Cheese Dog the hot dog was delicious, everything else was great, but the chili sauce (really just chili seasoned/flavoured hamburger) was gross. Fritos were stale, should've left the chili off and just made it a Chicago dog with mayo on it instead and it would've been 100x better. The homemade chips are fire.

The Spaghetti & Meatloaf the spaghetti was a bit over cooked, the bolognase was good, the meatloaf has no texture. It's like eating mush. If it was grilled and crispy on the outside it would be so much better. Garlic bread was stale.

The Tony's Spam Fries are alright. The breading does not taste like flaming hot Cheetos. Just taste like colored breadchrumbs and for not having any flavour manages to over power the spam, which I don't get. The horseradish dipping...
