My experience at Eddie Merlot's last night was impeccable. From the food, to the service, to the ambiance, nothing was amiss. And I have had a frustrating week so I really needed something to help me destress and feel taken care of. I think these days, even in fine dining, you often find that one or more components is lacking. Whether the server isn't quite as nice or the food isn't quite up to par and when you are spending these prices you really want everything to be stellar quality. Thankfully at Eddie Merlot's everything was top notch. I enjoyed every morsel of food and every sip of my cocktails. The art done by Bill Lupkin really sets off the the atmosphere for the dining hall. All of the staff are genuinely kind and attentive. And everyone is so good at their job. The dining hall is comfortable and not crowded. They even play the kind of music that I like which is a lovely bonus.
I normally don't love oysters, that is more my husband's preference but the Oysters Rockefeller were to die for. That preparation is the kind of preparation that makes people love oysters I might be converted to an oyster lover after that. We tried the soups as well and they were both delicious. The french onion was on point, but the star of the show was the king crab and corn bisque. Often I feel a bisque is hit or miss maybe more often a miss. So I personally ordered the french onion however my husband had me try his soup as well and it was incredible. If I come back I will definitely get the bisque next time: perfectly creamy and the flavors of the king crab and corn still stood out against that creaminess. I had the veal special with a side of lobster mashed potatoes which were generously assembled, sometimes when you order a dish like that you struggle to find the key ingredient but they pile it high on their lobster mashed potatoes at Eddie Merlot's and it was a very tasty dish. I also thought they had a great bartender. I don't usually drink for the effect moreso the flavor of various cocktails, I like to try new things and bounce flavors off of each other, and these drinks were worth drinking for the taste alone. I had a lemon drop martini which was bright and sunny and a spiced cherry mule which was really fun and livened up my taste buds and worked as a palate cleanser. For dessert we tried the creme brulee and the peanut butter cup with coffee and their coffee presentation was lovely. From the oversized coffee cups to the addition of whipped cream and mini chocolate chips there was no lack of attention to detail. The desserts were delectable and the only issue I had was a menu full of delicious looking items which made it very hard to choose. I was highly satisfied with the two options we decided to try though. We are already so full so these seemed like the lightest and easiest to eat. We did end up bringing most of the peanut butter cup home and eating most of the creme brulee in person. The creme brulee is a classic I feel like it's pretty hard to do it wrong but when it's done right it reminds me why it is one of my favorite desserts. I love the vanilla bean flecks and the caramelized sugar. You really can't go wrong. And the peanut butter cup was much lighter than you might expect for peanut butter. It came with a homemade peanut brittle slice and a delicious chocolate ganache. I would definitely order it again.
The food was impeccable from beginning to end. But the true crowning glory at Eddie Merlot's would be the staff. Everyone was so kind and knowledgeable and attentive. I never wanted for anything. I felt like a VIP and it was greatly appreciated after a long week. Go to Eddie Merlot's if you like high quality food and high quality service. You can feel...
Read moreI have never been so humiliated in my life, I am a simple man with a simple life. I spend most of my days helping others in need of a locksmith. I also sell my western drawings. It was the end of the week I had made a reservation earlier in the week for 1/27/17 at 7:00 so i could take my "Princess Love" out for a nice night at a classy restaurant. Food was GREAT!!! Service was poor we spent lots of time waiting for our ice tea to be refilled. Atmosphere was very peaceful and relaxing. Waitress was dumb founded when we said no wine, she literally stood there silent not knowing what to say next. I had already determined that I would bring her back the following weekend so we could try one of the other meals on the menu. I had the Elk Chop Awesome!!! My love had some shrimp that was so over seasoned with rosemary that she couldn't finish eating it but the rest of the stuff she had on her plate she said she really enjoyed. And the chocolate that they bring you oh my goodness that chocolate is absolute delicious best chocolate I've ever had. The price wasn't bad, I was expecting it to be much more expensive. I am a Hillbilly Redneck yet at the same time a successful Artist, Business man, Locksmith & yes a Hillbilly Redneck. Which is why my love & I felt very much out of place. We didn't have on our best duds on but we were clean and on a scale of 1-10 we were probably a 7. Standing at the counter I looked for my wallet, when I realized it's in my Toyota 4-Runner I asked the lady there if I could step outside. I pointed to my Toyota 4-Runner that was right outside the door, parked in the Handicap spot not more than 15' from where she stood. She looked very confused I said "I will leave my jacket and cane right here give me 10 seconds" as I was walking outside. I heard one of the lady's say to another "You better follow him he's not going to pay his bill". As I turned to walk back in, there was my waitress with a very smug look on her face, I said that was disrespectful and all she tried to do was lie about why she was holding the door. The manager heard i was pretty upset so while I was waiting for them to run my card he came over to try to smooth things out. Then offending me again said he would cover my bill. REALLY the food is our bellies, I don't need his charity. Just because I wasn't dressed all fancy like the other upper class snobs that kept staring at us. Just to make a point I guarantee, if you were to add up all the customers bank accounts that were there at that time. My savings account would be much more than that. I work my butt off to have the few things I have, and the amount of money I have. I'm not an upper class snob who has to have a brand new truck or spend money on useless things like most people that have plenty of money. I provide housing for men and women who have recently been released from prison. They committed a crime and have done there time. I see their struggles and felt compelled by Yeshua (Jesus) to help them. I have forgotten my wallet in my Toyota many times due to a traumatic brain injury, I have never felt so small and humiliated in my life. To be publicly offended like that was degrading. I'm ashamed they employ such people, yet maybe that's just how fancy restaurants are. What a shame, guess that might be how lots of the folks that get out of prison feel. When they get turned down application after application just because they were in prison. I'm left feeling disgusted and somehow beneath the rest of society. They responded by saying sorry, SO WHAT, that didn't change how they made me and my girlfriend feel this place has a disgusting...
Read moreThis place seems to want to be an upscale high-end restaurant. Based on our experience, it has some distance to go to reach that goal. It started as soon as we entered for our dinner reservation. There was no one at the front desk and we had to wait several minutes before somebody finally showed up. Not a good first impression. For an appetizer we had the calamari. Each piece was surrounded by a very thick and heavy coating. Once you could get through all that coating, the calamari tasted fine. We have had calamari before at many other restaurants and have never had it with such a thick layer of coating. Later, I mentioned this to a manager, and she did not seem to care much and essentially said that was just the way it was. We were seeing other tables around us getting a basket of bread as soon as the people were seated. We did not get bread until we asked for it. Why was that? Our main courses came out while we were still eating our appetizer. That is something that we have not seen at upscale restaurants where we have dined. Clearly, they do not know how to properly time the serving of the courses. The ribeye steak was good and somewhat tender but not any more so than what you would find at an average family steakhouse. Such a family steakhouse would charge about half of what this place charges. We also had the dover sole which was deboned tableside. The lady doing the deboning seemed to be having a bit of trouble doing that procedure but eventually was able to remove the spine. The fish had a very nice taste. The problem was that almost every bite had one or more bones in it. To properly debone a fish is an advanced culinary skill that clearly the lady who did our fish did not possess. The website states that the dress code shall not be overly casual and no hats are permitted. We saw several men with t-shirts, jeans and wearing hats. Obviously, this place does not enforce its own dress code. There are many fine upscale restaurants in the Denver metro area. The next time we feel like splurging on a night out for dinner, we will choose one of them. This place is not in that group.
To the “owner”: I responded as you requested but have heard...
