Tokyo Joe's - Chester — Restaurant in Centennial

No wonder the place is always empty when we go by. The positive reviews have really left me puzzled. The meat and vegetables in my bowl were actually quite good and tasted quality, but overall the whole thing was bland as cardboard. Also, the "ramen" noodles really destroyed the experience. They tasted like spaghetti that had been sitting in its water too long. I don't know what they were but I wouldn't call them ramen. With extreme disappointment, I struggled through my bowl after loading it up with soy sauce, Sriracha, and what I assume was shichimi togarashi (7 spice). My friend's ramen broth tasted like it was mixed with those bouillon cubes that come in the little jar with the blue lid. I'll continue to pass on this place and go to MOD instead. Never...

I wanted to like this place. Japanese food with a smattering of sushi in a Chipotle style format sounds like a perfect business model, especially if the food is good. The build your own Bento Box I saw on the online menu sounded great. The reality was a little more hit and miss, though. I got a Bento Box with salmon (with spicy Red Dragon sauce), veggie mix, brown rice and spicy tuna roll. The mixed veggies, including edamame, snap beans, etc. were fresh, crisp and delicious. The salmon and brown rice were disappointing, though. Didn't seem very fresh nor were they flavorful. The menu seemed to indicate I'd be getting four pieces of spicy tuna roll. Two of the pieces were spicy tuna roll and the other two pieces, well, were something else....

We go here a lot, the food always tastes good and they're pretty fast.

However, they've messed up my boyfriend's order quite a few times. Usually is no big deal, but today his order was a big dark chicken bowl (which was repeated to us multiple times). He got both a regular bowl and white chicken. Which of course we didn't notice until we got home (always order to go), and the kid at the register didn't even give me my receipt so I'm not sure if I paid for the extra size or not.

Overall the food is good and the restaurant is clean, so it gets some stars, but they might mess up your order. So unless you're dining in and can tell them...
