I got the ribeye with mashed potatoes, onion rings, and a side salad (roll on the side). My husband got the rodeo burger with fries. Overall the atmosphere was basic and the food/drinks were mid. I was impressed with the reasonable prices and that most of the food was homemade. The rolls are to die for. Seriously, the best part of my meal. The steak was cooked great, no complaints for a $15 ribeye. The fries were also amazing, seasoned really well.
My complaints/criticism: • The mashed potatoes were homemade but bland. Lacked any kind of flavor. • My side salad came out with my meal (my meal came out about 5 mins after my families). I could've asked for it to be served before my meal but good customer service would just bring it out before instead of making me wait while everyone else eats. • The onion rings had a great crunch to them but again, lacked any flavor. Season the batter and they would be perfect! • The drinks were terrible. Flat Dr. Pepper, Root beer tasted off brand, and the lemonade was disgusting. (Not to mention our drinks were left empty 90% of our meal) • The burger tasted like cardboard. Not sure what that was about but definitely not a good burger.
Will we go again? Maybe. It was decently priced for homemade food. $65 for a family of 4. The wait time between ordering and getting our food wasn't terrible. And the staff was, well, just okay. They could be friendlier, more enthusiastic and attentive. This place definitely has potential if they would up the seasonings, drinks, and overall...
Read moreRevising my review: We have not been back in several months. Probably won't go back after this last visit. The food was good. Seating OK. The waitress, the tall lady with the deep voice was nice enough when we were seated, but when our food came she just slammed (and I mean slammed it on the table to the point of other people looking) it on the table and walked off. No inquiry regarding refills or any other condiments. I mean I can get service with a snarl about anywhere, but I would be a masochist if I kept going back for that sort of treatment. I generally try to see the good side of everything, and I am easy going. If hubby and I not been hungry, we would have walked out at that point. I mean maybe she thought we were someone else, or is having a bad day, but you cannot take stuff out on customers and expect them to return. We are good tippers and are pleasant to the wait staff. This was more than someone having a bad day. IDK what the problem was or is, but we used to drive out of our way to eat here. We liked the old time diner feel. There are plenty of other places. My previous review. The rib ends omelet is wonderful as are the ribs. All the food is good. Staff is nice. Typical café décor and atmosphere but...
Read moreMy husband eats here regularly but I’m not sure why because there is always an issue. One particular server that always smells like a smokestack (because of cigarettes) has been incredibly rude to him and he won’t interact with her anymore. In fact, he only gets to go food now, mainly due to that one server. The food is wildly inconsistent. While it’s somewhat tasty, that’s not always the case. He gets the same thing every time, so you would think you would know what to expect every time. Today, the gravy was on the bottom of the biscuit (for biscuits & gravy)? Never been served like that before, but he was glad the gravy was there, thought they missed it completely before he looked underneath biscuit. They often get the order wrong, despite knowing what will be ordered. We met working in a restaurant, so we understand the food service industry well and we are consistently flabbergasted by the inconsistency of this establishment, and general lack of give a crap. We have patronized this restaurant through all its reiterations (Centerton Cafe, Sam’s Family Diner) and this last one is, by far, the worst. It hasn’t been good since it was located across from...
