I first experienced this place about 5 months ago coming from Augusta, GA. I love it and the customer service is always nice and great except for this one darken haired woman named Brandy who says she's the manager. She is beyond condescending, rude, and unprofessional. I've been going to this place almost everyday for a few months straight and everyone's great there except her. Whenever I go in I'm always hopeful that anybody will fix my food other than her. Sometimes I've noticed her get up from tables and go behind the counter and out of her way to fix my food. Well today I unfortunately had the experience of her fixing my food. I got the American combo (which is 2 meats) I got fried pork chop and Salisbury steak. I said to her "can I get both meats on the same plate". I've said this to many other people working there and they're all fine. Most ask, am I sure? I always reply yeah all of its all going to the same place. We then smile exchange pleasantries and that's it. I was thinking she would be great w/ putting both meats on the same plate b/c it would be less work for her and she would save a Styrofoam container for her company. But no she says to me "don't tell me what to do". So I said "excuse me" and asked "what did you say". She begin to mumble under her breath as if she needed restraint. I then said "I would like someone else to fix my food please". I asked the other lady behind the counter and she said no problem. The other lady attempted to fix my food. But then Brandy says "no you have to get what I fixed or get out". I told her I wasn't comfortable with her fixing my food. I asked for a manager and she said it was her. I asked for the owner's information and she said he wasn't there. So I asked, "well what's his information in case something happens when he's not here". Her answer was "dude he's not here". She obviously didn't want to give me a way to make him aware of her actions. So I said fine. I paid the other lady behind the counter and left. The sad thing is that I love this place and the rest of the staff. I have conversations with all of them and I ring the bell all of the time there b/c the people there other than her are great. She's putting a black eye on a very great establishment. I know I can't be the only person she's behaved this way with. If you're the owner and you read this you can ask your staff about me. I'm sure they'll remember the guy that comes there faithfully and is very nice to everyone. The behavior of that manager is terrible for business. I know I spent tons of money there and was trying to happily do so today. Bad service will ruin great...
Read moreOn my first visit, I decided to go for their all inclusive combo meal called an All Star (...I think). If you're really hungry for Southern cooking, this combo choice gives you a lot of bang for the buck. It's a tiny place, with an even smaller parking lot. Lucky for me, I was able to find a parking spot right in front of the door. This place is really busy, so cars were everywhere. Ok, back to the food. I chose the white meat fried chicken which was DELICIOUS! For sides, I got collards and cabbage. The collards were decent and met my expectations. The cabbages on the other hand were cooked beyond recognition. On this visit, the cabbages were overcooked to the point of being mushy. I don't particularly care for melt-in-your-mouth cabbages. The cornbread was a pleasant surprise. At a quick glance, the cornbread looks like it might be dry, and crumbly. Instead, it was thick, tasty, and it held up without crumbling all over everything. The peach cobbler was tasty. However, I do not like that white, thick, gooey dough in cobbler. The deal breaker with the cobbler was that my serving had something in it that was small and hard as a rock that could have broken my tooth, if I had bitten down on it the wrong way. This incident shifted my whole mood, and had me hating that I tried this place. The fruit salad was just chopped fruit, and that's what I wanted as my salad at that time. The drink was fountain lemonade. All in all, the chicken is awesome. Also, I was impressed by the layout and flow of the...
Read moreMy last experience here, I suppose was my last. Several weeks ago, I went for lunch on my hour break from work (in Macon), as I often did. Not convenient, but I enjoyed. This day their were two whole cat fish (which I go there for) and 3 people, including me, opted to wait for fresh. We we told that there wold be a 25 minute wait. I foolishly decided to wait. After 28 minutes, they presented a fresh pan of catfish fillet. Not only that, it was swia fish. I looked at this twisted fish and explained that I waited all that time for whole catfish...did not really want this, but she persuaded me to at least try it. Considering my time invested, I did just that. One bite, and I assured her that it wouldn't work for me. She offered me something else, but no time. She then remedied the situation by offering me peach cobbler and a gift card. I said thanks and left. No lunch that day. Anyway, looked at gift card later, to find it was for a free dessert. Not for a lunch? Went by there hopefully to resolve. They had my $, yet I had no lunch. The woman I spoke with was the same woman with whom I had dealt. Said she wasn't authorized to return my money or offer another meal. Took my number for owner to call me. Haven't heard a thing. Seems petty, I know, but that's what infuriates me. A simple phone call, and a resolve of S6 would've made all...
