Call me Ghost Rider, because like Johnny Blaze, I'm a fan of Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza.
Blaze recently held their Grand Opening at the revitalized Plaza 183. Being a local, always in search of new eateries in & amongst town, I had the great fortune to be one of the first customers at this location.
Between having one of Blaze's signature pizzas or BYOP (build your own pizza), I wisely chose BYOP, as I can fit as many ingredients as can possibly be achieved on my personalized pie.
Gluten-free w/ spicy red sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, ricotta, feta, gorgonzola, applewood bacon, salame, pepperoni, artichokes, arugula, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, roasted garlic, basil, mushroom, olives, red onions, spinach & zucchini- This kitchen sink pizza was stuffed to the gills. So much so, one of the staff gave me a fork & knife, suggesting it's very heavy & would be quite messy. Did I care? Heck naw! I folded each loaded slice and proceeded to stuff my face with all the goodness. The flavor notes of the roasted garlic, the cured meats, the various cheeses - it all blended well together. Unfortunately, one topping not available is anchovy. Darn, I love the salty omega-3's anchovies lend to pizza.
S'mores pie- A small decadent treat, the s'mores pie was a pleasure to have. I was asked if I wanted it heated up, which I agreed to. The marshmallow was nicely stretchy, the chocolate gooey & the graham cracker cookie crumbly. A well end to a great lunch.
Service was great. The staff were happy & joyous to be there. When I asked for gluten-free crust, the employee assembling my pizza changed gloves & no one else handled my order. Caveat - Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza shares the same press & oven for their pizzas. Be aware of that if you're highly sensitive to gluten. While eating, several employees asked how everything was & if I needed anything like parmesan or a refill.
Ample seating, with handsome wood tables & an al fresco dining area by the entrance. Blaze is located next to Pier 76 Fish Grill.
Hip, hip, hooray! Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza is a great local pizza option for me. Fresh ingredients, quick turnaround of food & friendly service are why Blaze should be on your food radar. I'm already planning my next pizza - loaded with lots of minced garlic, with a gluten-free crust cooked directly on the oven so as to achieve a perfect crispy crust.
Highly...
Read moreIf you’re vegetarian I won’t recommend this place. In the beginning if someone asked that their pizza will be vegetarian they should be aware that they don’t touch any meat. I had to order a 2nd pizza because they use same pizza cutter for every pizza doesn’t matter meat or veggie. On 2nd time when i ordered they did use a veggie pizza cutter but when i was getting my toppings the guy touched the meat which was lying around to put it back in it’s meat bowl but didn’t change the gloves to get my toppings done. Manager was nice trying to be careful but the workers in the front are not in their state of mind what customers ask for. All the employees were giving such a strange look, after all this i still tipped a generous amount and paid for the 2nd pizza too even though manager was saying I don’t have to pay but for me it’s not about i pay or don’t pay. All you gotta do is follow the guidelines what your...
Read moreThe only reason im giving this place a 2 star is for the poor quality in customer service. The food was delish like every other blaze. But one of the workers there decided to be rude and show of infront of her boyfriend and basically kick customers out since it was closing time. It really astonish me by the action she took slammin chair ontop of tables where 4 other customers were also dinning. I saw how the customers got there food and left. I also left due to the fact of how i felt basically kicked out when i had just gotten my pizza. I really hope this alerts someone and manages that team members action to prevent other consumers from feeling this way also her coworkers were in shock and try to maintain her calm but...
