An old culinary stalwart in Cerritos, Thai Original BBQ has been serving up the delicious spices & flavors of Thailand for years. Located in the nondescript Cerritos Triangle, across from the mall on 183rd, I've dined here a handful of times throughout the years. Not having visited in a long while, we came here after redeeming a free premium fruit smoothie coupon at Dairy Queen in front of Thai Originial BBQ
Being the weekend, the lunch specials were unavailable. Therefore, we decided upon the house specials (shrimp fried rice included)-
BBQ Chicken House Special - The skin, it's all about the skin. Packed with flavor, the half chicken was moist & tender. Besides the ribs, the BBQ chicken is the most popular item. A heaping mound of shrimp fried rice completes the meal. A great dish to get.
Crispy Duck House Special - Whu hoppen?!? How can you mess up something inherently delicious as duck? Overcooked, tough & just not good. The only slightly redeeming factor being the fatty skin. I asked an attendant that I thought (actually I knew) the duck to be overcooked, to which he replied that's how they cook it. On the bright side the shrimp fried rice was good & the bed of steamed broccoli underneath the duck helped for a filling meal. Alas, that duck though.......
Service was good. Our waters were refilled and the attendants were friendly & pleasing. A fair amount of seating, with tables, booths & a private area in the front.
Parking is in a private lot shared by such businesses as Chennai Tiffins, Native Visions, Dairy Queen & Josephine's.
Thai Original BBQ, you left me in dismay on a Saturday. While your BBQ chicken & ribs are excellent menu choices, I can't in good conscience recommend ordering the crispy duck. It fell flatter than a pancake.
Order the chicken & ribs, avoid...
Read moreFor many years Ive been coming here for a quick bite to eat. Sometimes my wife and I we scape the office and come here to eat..
The food here is always delicious, and from the time you sit down and place your order, they're super fast to bring your the food to your table.
This place is clean and staff have always been very attentive and friendly.
I am a regular costumer. So I tend to used this place regularly to meet up some clients. I believe in supporting our local business.
But due to the pandemic I stayed away for about a year. Just recently I started to come back to visit this location again.
Unfortunately there's new staff and my personal experience have change completely . The staff at the door seems rude and short fuse... and I like to think maybe because they were busy and under pressure they acted rude. Who knows? but I was a bit disappointed how I was treated in front of my client. Specially because I've spoke so highly about this place.
Is true that it takes a life time to built a strong reputation and a minute to ruin it..
The food continuesto be...
Read moreTheir chicken satay is good. The peanut sauce was very smooth, different than other places that have chunky bits inside, but it was still really good. They also seasoned the chicken a bit different than other places, but it still tasted good even without the peanut sauce.
I absolutely love their chicken pad see ew! This is honesty my favorite Thai dish and this place makes it the best (IMO - for now)
The pineapple fried rice!! I love adding a bit of the sweet sauce that comes with the angel wings to add a bit of sweetness to the rice for added delight.
They make really good angel wings too, their sweet sauce is so delicious!!
I've had their combination soup and I like that they bring it out to you with a mini flame to keep it nice and hot.
I really like their Thai iced tea too, even though I didn't get one this time around.
The wait was not too bad, but their was a huge surge of families come in after we placed our name in the wait list. But the service was fast and our food arrived in a...
