Last night, my partner and I went out to eat and decided to try a dish called dinakdakan. However, we were surprised to find that it was made with liempo (pork belly), which was unexpected. While the cream or sauce in the dinakdakan was actually quite good, this was the first time I’ve ever encountered a version of it that used liempo as the main meat. It didn’t really taste like the traditional dinakdakan I know. I also ordered chicken tinola, but unfortunately, it didn’t taste good at all. It was very different from the usual tinola I’m used to, and I was honestly disappointed with it. The only dish I truly enjoyed that night was the beef caldereta—that one was flavorful and cooked just right. Even the rice they served was hard and not properly cooked, which made the meal less enjoyable. To make things worse, the music at the place was extremely loud—it felt like my eardrums were about to burst. It was hard to enjoy the food and have a conversation because of the noise. Overall, it wasn’t the best dining experience, but at least the caldereta saved the night a little.

When I travel to LA and dine out, I always go for Chinese or Korean as there are a plethora of these types of restaurants. But this time I wanted to try a different type of Asian food, so my friend suggested Filipino. I honestly didn't know what to expect. The waiter made some recommendations and OMG!!! I had Lumpia, which are spring rolls filled with meat. Crispy pata, which is pork with a super crunchy skin. BBQ pork skewers and Sisig, which is also pork served on a hot skillet with a flavour I cannot describe. All served with a side of rice. For dessert, it was banana wrapped in spring roll wrapper, drizzled with toffee/caramel with a scoop of Ube ice cream. The biggest surprise was a dessert called Halo Halo, which is shredded ice mixed with sweet fillings (not sure what they are but tasted goo) topped with another scoop of Ube ice cream and creme brulé and drizzled with evaporated milk. The only thing that wasn't eaten was the lettuce leaf that was used as a garnish so it's evident that my family and I enjoyed the food. I will certainly return.

Whoa where do I start!!! The food here was all perfect!! I love Filipino food but this was the best I’ve ever had.. EVER! although I have never been to PI.. but as the wife of a Filipina, I have experience in Filipino food and can tell what’s good and what isn’t. We ordered 4 scoops of rice, Lechon Kawali, dinakdakan, sinigang nan bangus and fresh lumpia. The fresh lumpia was so good! It was delicious and the flavors were perfect! Not too over powering or too sweet, it was just right! The lechon kawali was tender and fried to perfection! The pieces weren’t too hard but still gave that perfect satisfying crunch. The dinakdakan had so much flavor and veggies without over doing it and the dish was just perfect! The rice was cooked perfect and the sinigang had amazing flavor, not too strong but just right! And when you take that first sip, you feel that weight lifted off your shoulders because it reminds you of a simpler time.. everything was amazing! Delicious and comforting!

Well, we stopped for lunch here today, right at 11- first ones in the door. Cheerful chap led us to our table… kind of went downhill from there. Our waiter seemed unconcerned, diffident, and not particularly responsive - he did bring us our food - high marks for that I guess. we’re scouting for a place for our lunch group And this place is big enough to bring our whole office…And cold as the deck of the titanic. I asked our unresponsive Waiter to crank up the heat - which unsurprisingly never happened. We had to huddle around the crispy Pata for warmth - which is all we could do with it - It was huge and tough as roadkill. No liver sauce was offered, we had to beg like puppies for it. I’m going to bake the crispy Pata another hour when I get home tonight. So we ordered the vegetables in coconut milk, which is a common group favorite. The sauce was good, not wreaking of nasty shrimp flakes, but the vegetables were too tough to eat – so I guess if you’re on a weight loss diet, this place is perfect. I’m going to steam the vegetables too when I get home so perhaps they will be edible. The Calamari was nice but no sauce but soy and vinegar. As disillusionment was sinking in., The boys decided to crank up music and sing along. This eliminated the possibility of bringing our lunch group here – it’s hard to talk over off key karaoke. Oddly, there were no ladies to be seen, which explains a lot… Oh dear. No other customers in sight when we left. Wonder why? Hire...

This is by far one of the worst filipino restaurant I have ever been to. My fiancé and I got here just after 8pm and they required $10 cover charge for each person. I was surprised because the place just looked like a regular restaurant nothing special about it. We ordered crispy sisig and shanghai lumpia which were on their SPECIAL MENU. I thought this better be good because WE PAID $20 just to get in. 20-30mins later we got our food. Sisig was BAD and lumpia was BURNT and TASTELESS. Their sisig was not evenly cooked and pork was like PORK CHOP SIZE!! It definitely killed our mood. Also they charge so much money for a bar that only had 2 kinds of beer (Modelo and Corona) and they didn’t even have LIME! The server gave us freaking lemons when we asked for lime for our beer. What a joke right? She just put the lemons on our table and didn’t even apologize for their lack of ingredients… finally when we were almost done, live music just started playing and it was MEDIOCRE. So yeah we couldn’t finish the food because it was so disappointing and we left halfway through the first song. Stopping here for dinner was a bad choice and I don’t ever plan to go back to this place. I understand that they are raising their prices due to the impact of COVID but the owner of this place needs to be reasonable about it and make sure that their high prices reflect the quality of food and overall service. Or else their business...
