Gobi Ice Cream — Restaurant in Cerritos

Gobi, or not Gobi? That is the question.

Gobi Ice Cream is an ice cream shop that's been open for many years in Cerritos, yet I haven't been to try their rolled ice cream. Until now, that is.

Made fresh to order, Thai rolled ice cream is a labor-intensive frozen treat. Part culinary theater, customers can see their creamy concoction take form right in front of their very eyes.

Perusing the menu at their pre-set options, as opposed to build your own, the choice was difficult to nail down. Believing I should honor my Filipino roots, I chose the Oh-Bae.

Oh-Bae- Ube (taro) ice cream, w/ circus animal cookies, Fruity Pebbles, drizzling of condensed milk & whipped cream, to boot. Not too sweet, the ube ice cream was thick & rich. The circus animal cookies (haven't had these since I was a kid), Fruity Pebbles & condensed milk provided just the right amount of sugar, for my taste. I highly enjoyed diving into my ice cream, marveling at the setting sun on a hot July evening.

Service was excellent. As stated prior, Gobi's rolled ice cream is made to order, and takes time to make on the frozen plates. However, it's definitely worth the wait! Staff were ready with recommendations. Parking is at the Sleep Number Mattress plaza. Gobi is located on the right of The Liquor Store.

I visit Cerritos often and tried almost all the dessert spots. Been here a few times now and I may need help for addiction lol. I've had their Coffee, Thai Tea, Taro and Breakfast (milk + fruity peebles) favors so far and I can't decide which is my favorite! I can't wait to try them all! They execute the flavors and toppings well, you know, for all of us who take photos before we eat anything lol. You can taste the freshness of the ice cream which I lovvveee! Easily one of the best local ice cream places that I've had. Can't beat fresh made ice cream just for you and $7 a pop! When I say freshly made I mean exactly that, they take fresh cream and pour it over an ice cold steel roundel to then combine your favorite flavors making a silky smooth rolled ice cream that will definitely satisfy your cravings. The staff was extremely helpful, kind and was quick to answer any questions. Also any of the 2 toppings or sauce drizzle can be swapped out to then make your own twist on any ice cream combination they have available.
