So to start, everything seemed great, we placed our initial order of drinks and broth without issue. The broth came out promptly. We did the premium all you can eat and after our first round of meats and veggies came out, still no drinks. We ordered a couple hot teas. I asked about the drinks and they told me they were cleaning the tea cups. Okay that's fine maybe I'm just being impatient or they only have a couple sets of teacups for some reason. We are close to done with round 1 at this point and have put in a second round of orders which happened to be last call. This time they slowly brought the items out 1 by 1 and eventually stopped and we didn't even get everything we asked for. We still never got our tea so I flagged someone down because I never saw our initial waitress again after placing our broth order (they had her cleaning other tables instead of servicing us). I told the gentleman that we never received our teas that we ordered and he said sorry and that he would go get it. A minute later he comes and sets down one cup of iced tea even though we ordered two hot teas. These were a couple small annoyances and can be understandable if they are busy or something, but unfortunately it was not busy as we had no wait and there were open tables. They dropped off the check at some point and said no rush take your time, then came back less than 10 minutes later and said hi can you close out your tab please we are shutting down the register. So I said oh okay and pulled out my card and gave it to her before realizing I am paying for the drinks we never even received as I'm still just eating and enjoying my time with my girlfriend. What really did it for me though was a few minutes after bringing my card and check back, a girl that wasn't our initial waitress comes up and says "excuse me I'm not trying to be rude, but we did close 13 minutes ago" I was surprised by this because I had even checked online and they were listed as being open until 11:00 on a Saturday night (until they saw my yelp review which has since been filtered away because yelp is a shady company) and I checked my phone when she said this and it was 10:43. I was pretty fed up with how the night was going at this point and said "sure no problem we'll leave" because at this point there was really no saving the experience.
I paid a premium AYCE price and for drinks we never received, never got some of the things we ordered, felt rushed by being asked to pay now after being told to take my time, and then being basically shooed out of my meal because their hours are listed incorrectly online. I have come a few times before the pandemic and had good experiences but the customer service was not great this time and really ruined the mood when I was paying for premium AYCE trying to take my girlfriend out for a nice dinner. I will look for somewhere else...
Read moreStopped by for outdoor dining when the craving for hot pot struck during the pandemic. They definitely take many precautions for the pandemic--staff wearing masks and gloves, plus temperature checks before you can be seated. Tables spaced well apart from each other so we felt distanced properly.
Now, to the food! We started with an order of the lemon pepper wings, but to us the amount of the lemon-flavored seasoning and salt applied to the wings was WAY too high. I love big flavors so it's pretty rare that I say a dish is over-seasoned, but these wings absolutely were. However, the soup was a different story. Both my fiancee and I knew we wanted the wagyu beef, but we went different directions on the broth and it made all the difference. I went with the pork bone broth after asking our sever for his recommendation, and MAN am I glad I did. The combination of the very high quality wagyu beef with the super flavorful pork bone broth was super tasty. I went with the "spicy" option (level 3 out of the 4 spice options), and it definitely had a kick but not so much that I couldn't eat it--real nice, slow burn. My fiancee however went with the citrus konbu broth, and it was bland. Not like, kinda bland--super duper bland! She also went "medium" on the spicy scale (level 2 out of the 4 spice options), so I think that may have been a factor.
Service was OK given how many customers they were trying to deal with, and their limited staff again due to the pandemic. If the wings had been on point I probably would have given this place the full 5 stars, but the wings and the pricing made me dock them slightly. But I'd definitely come back--that pork bone broth is gonna call my...
Read moreWhen it was a good it was a good but the bad was really bad. I used to to go here regularly even though it could be hit or miss in terms of flavor as it was mostly really good but there were a few really bad experiences. The first happened when we ordered takeout and something smelled like sour cream but we didn’t check the food until we got home. When we opened up the boxes we were disgusted to find someone’s left overs from a different restaurant as well as items missing. It was super gross but for some reason we went back after a few months. Going back was not the move. There was a worm in my food. I let the server know and she brought it to the attention of a manager. He told me it was from the vegetables and not from the broth. No apology nothing. We paid full price and left since I lost my appetite. I didn’t go back again for over half a year but finally gave in and went back a few times with different people. The service was never great but it was fine. The last time I went I was with two other people and it seemed like my broth wasn’t getting hot after about 40 minutes we flagged someone down and asked them to check. Turns out they never turned my burner on. For reference it was on the other side of the bar so I couldn’t control it myself. That was the final straw. I used to recommend this place all the time but I can’t anymore. Too many mistakes for broth that may or may...
