Had the worst time, out to celebrate a birthday. I ordered the chicken & steak fajitas. Order comes out steak only, offered to bring chicken or return whole plate. I opted for bringing chicken on the side, served returned said manager is getting me a new one I am to enjoy the steak one for now, all manager did was change the bill to the more expensive steak & chicken order, I take my time and no other meal or chicken arrives. Server offers apologies and claims they're busy with all you can eat orders some how my order isnt as important as AYCE... I finally say we need a check, get that right away, I see 2 extra charges, 1 was something called onion topper, and a 2nd was grilled onions which my hubby asked for instead of additional side. Ok charge me for onions I dont care. But charge me for steak and chicken when I never saw the chicken, replacement meal hasn't yet arrived and now this. Husband said aske because it's the principal of things now, but server comes back and so I nicely asked what is the extra charge, that's your onions, ok fine so what is this onion topper thing "oh that was an error and shouldnt be there" ok thanks & takes bill and returns to asking I would like to speak to manager... I am getting heated at this time I am paying for dual meat order, a miss charge and still have not gotten the replacement meal promised. I stated NO I JUST WANT TO GET OUT OF HERE! I was steaming and I assured the server I blamed her for none of this and I felt it was lack of management and staffing for a Friday Night AYCE event maybe you should be better staffed in anticipation. Server offers to check on my now charged meal again and offers it to go. Fine she returned to say the manager kindly compt my husbands meal the cheaper of the 2 meals ordered, and I could have mine to go, if I wanted it. I am paying for it so why not! So thinking this nightmare is behind me I eat the to go meal Sundsy and after eating I rinse my to go containers before adding to the kitchen can and I noticed a double bowl, I seperate them and immediately call my husband to the sink. The bowl had someone else's lettuce and juices and leftovers in it and I just ate from the bowl that it has sat in for 2 days. Heated it in my microwave, etc. Chambersburg, Pa Applebees is the worst I have ever been in and I wouldn't recommend this eatery to anyone. Still very upset. Since it was a togo container I have no clue unless an employee ate on break and then just sat my food container on top. It was clearly a used container. Being I had plans for Saturday and this was Sunday the guacamole and lettuce had to be thrown out anyhow (brown mush), server was nice and I blamed them for nothing but having been a manager I think I can honestly say I would have handled this much differently. Management is more than walking around smiling and...

Stopped in today with a friend for a late lunch and was very disappointed. There were only a handful of customers in the restaurant, and I was later informed that a supervising manager was on-site at the time, and in spite of this, it took 45 minutes to get our entres. The waitress took our drink and appetizer order promptly enough, but she served my drink and the appetizer, and then it was another 5 minutes before she brought my friend's drink.
We were there more than 20 minutes before she asked for our lunch order, and another 25 minutes before we were served. She explained the delay by telling us that the kitchen had burned my friend's meal and had to start over again. My friend had requested her salad without the cheese topping, but this had been disregarded and she got the topping anyway. The waitress offered to take it back, but since we had already been there for 45 minutes and really couldn't afford to wait another 20 minutes for a new meal, my friend picked the topping off herself.
The food was not good. The cole slaw was so sweet as to be inedible, the fish was overcooked and the french fries were limp and heavily peppered. And now that I think about it, I bet my food was so lousy because it was sitting under a heat lamp for 10 - 15 minutes while the kitchen redid my friend's burnt dinner. Fish never holds up well under that kind of treatment.
The waitress brought the check promptly, and since she gave more time and attention to explaining the check (and the fact that we had to use the electronic check because she had spilled salad dressing on the paper copy) than she did any other part of the service, I have to conclude that her interest was solely occupied in getting our money.
The check was for $41, and the meals were definitely not worth it - we would have gotten better food and better service at McDonald's. I spoke with a manager (a management trainee, I believe he said), and though he was polite and professional, it was pretty clear to me that my words were going in one ear and out the other. We...

NA! The reason for my review is that we've had negative experiences in the last several years with Applebee's and even though their menu and prices are a great fit for us, we just about stopped eating there and ordering take-out.
However, we were pleasantly surprised to learn our Chambersburg Applebee's is an exception and we are happy to put this restaurant back on our "Good List".
It is conveniently located very close to our church so it's very easy to catch a late supper after Sunday or Wednesday night church. Their 2/$20 deal is an extremely good value as it includes 2 regular sized entrees PLUS an Appetizer. I love their Oriental Chicken Salad, Fiesta Lime Chicken, and the Cedar Grilled Lemon Chicken entrees, which are all three on the 2/$20 menu. All are reasonably healthy and always served very fresh.
The two complaints we've had in recent years with most Applebee's are the poor service and the food is not fresh or our order is not correct. This is especially frustrating when ordering Take-Out and we were really done even trying with this restaurant. However, the Chambersburg location has EXCELLENT service with very friendly wait staff. The food has been served fresh, hot and as ordered every single time we've eaten here.
My only slight complaint would be that the music and TV's are always turned up to ear bleed level. But that is the case with several chain restaurants centered around a sports bar. We usually sit furthest from the bar anyway. I can highly recommend this Applebee's for food food, great service, and very reasonable...
