I wish I could write this under better circumstances, especially since now is the time to support local businesses and come together as a community. However, my first and last experience at Elmer's was really unfortunate. I had an order called in ahead of time, and showed up with maybe 5 minutes to wait in their estimated time frame. Because they were not seating people inside, they had a canopy set up outside for drive through orders. To put it in perspective, if they had a full house, they would be serving food at more than twice the capacity that they do when folks are driving through. I confirmed my order and paid, and was told to pull up and wait because it wasn't ready yet.
I proceeded to wait in my car for nearly half an hour longer, while car after car behind me paid and was given their order immediately. No one came up to check on me or give me a status update during that time, but after about 15 minutes, a woman finally came up to me again and said - "what did you order again?" Red flag - you can't possibly be too busy to remember the order that one person is waiting for when there is absolutely no way you have more than 7 - 10 tickets going simultaneously.
After 10 more minutes had passed, I opened my door to get out and ask for a refund. More than enough time was given for adequate customer service. What I got instead was the same woman with so much attitude, approached my car, handed me my order, gave a half hearted and dismissive "sorry about that", and when I mentioned it would be my first and last time visiting as I tried to shut my door, she yelled "excuse you - RUDE". No effort to make good, no consideration for my personal space, no reiterating any gratitude for waiting so long and supporting local businesses during this difficult time.
It's a shame that the customer service was so poor, we ordered a taquito special and the food was actually pretty decent. Since these guys have no regard for their customers, and no gratitude for the business they're getting, however, I'll go support someone else who seems to need my patronage more and shows more appreciation for the support.
Lack luster communication skills, forgetting my order, yelling at me from the curb with a nasty remark as I'm trying to leave is just not the way I like to...

Read moreI've lived in Arizona for 48 of my 52 years of life and never been to Elmer's Tacos!! Well....Thank God I heard about them on Tikety Tok!!! I am a connoisseur of of Red Chili, and love me some when it is made just right, not too hot, tasty with the perfect amount of seasonings and cooked so tender, with chunks of beef or pork. We live in the NW part of the valley, so on a Saturday, I asked my oldest son to take me for an hour drive to Elmer's, picked my Mama on the way, cuz she said Let's Go!!!! Haha!! The place was small, clean and inviting. The employee's were helpful & imformative of their menu. I already knew what I was going to get.... A red chili, bean & cheese burrrito, and a bean & cheese cone!! Remember, I said I am a connoisseur of RED CHILI....THIS IS THE BEST RED CHILI I'VE EVER TASTED IN MY 52 YEARS OF LIFE!!!! The tenderness, the tastiness, just enough heat, mixed with the homemade beans and the perfect amount of cheese.....DROOL!!!!! My mouth is literally watering typing this!!! I just wish you were closer, during the week is a tough one because of traffic, I will have to make it out there another Saturday in the near future, because I need a fix!! LOL!! The Bean & Cheese Cone was good, but could of been better!! The beans & cheese were cold, but the cone was hot. I didn't want to complain so I just took a couple bites and went back to my red chili burrito. My husband & Mama both got enchiladas and said they were very good and tasty. And my son said he always enjoys his meals when he goes there. Lucky him he drives all over the...
