Terrible! Terrible! I drove 20 miles very excited to visit La Madeline as it is one of my favorites in Texas. I talked my daughter into driving 20 miles as well and assured her it was worth it. How embarrassing for this company. My first contact was at the register where it says line starts here and the waitress or a bus person said this isn’t open go down to the other register with no smile no apology. I noticed there was no food along the service area in the glass window at all, which is strange because there is always delicious looking food to view.OK maybe she was having an off day. I enthusiastically approached the second register and when I explained where we came from and how excited we were to be there, she asked “why would you do that? There is one in Santan Valley”. I explained to her I was from the opposite direction that is why I chose her restaurant. She seemed baffled but now I know why. I’ll shorten the story up. They were out of half-and-half so I asked for heavy cream and the manager just looked at the waitress and asked three times why. I chimed in and said because “you’re out of half-and-half”, so he gave me heavy cream in a coffee mug and just said “here” with no smile no apology. My quiche came five minutes after my daughters plate. The crust was hard as a rock. My potato galette was definitely one to two days old and cold on the plate. I flagged down the waitress and asked for the side of béarnaise sauce that I ordered and she said what is béarnaise sauce? I advised her it’s a French restaurant and béarnaise sauce is common and she didn’t know what I was talking about. I pointed to someone else’s béarnaise sauce and she just walked away and came back with a cup of Béarnaise sauce that was cold. I ordered crisp bacon and clearly they microwaved it and burned it. I had to apologize to my daughter for making her drive 20 miles for the worse breakfast I’ve had all year. This store needs quality control from corporate in the worst way. Please get this store in shape so you can be represented correctly. The French coffee was great and the fireplace was nice and that’s the only positive thing I can say...
Read moreMy husband went to the Chandler La Madeleine for breakfast this morning. The young man who took our order was surly. He never smiled. He seemed as if he really did not want to be there. I asked for "crisp bacon" with my order. I asked him, "can your cook do crisp bacon?". He answered "Yes." When I got my order, the bacon was limp and fatty. The woman who brought us our food was nice and helpful. I asked her to cook my bacon some more, to make it crisp, and she said she would get me a new order of bacon. When I got the new bacon, it was crisp because it was black (burned). Apparently no one in the kitchen this morning knew how to cook bacon. While our meal in general tasted good, my husband's plate gave the impression of being slapped together with no care taken about how it looked. I had a latte with my meal and my husband had an espresso. Both coffees were great. To sum up, the food tasted good, but the surly youth's attitude, the bacon issue and the lack of attention given to presentation caused us to conclude that eating breakfast there just wasn't worth what it cost.
I should add that I have eaten lunch multiple times at the La Madeleine in downtown Phoenix, and it was great every time, in every respect. Perhaps the problem is just with the Chandler branch, and some (but not all) members of the...
Read moreI've been here a couple of times now. Gotta say these people dont know how to work customer service. I've had an iced mocha here before, and it's been great both times. However, it seems the third time just wasn't it. My sandwich was great, but they completely missed on the mocha and over creamed it, losing the bitter aspect, then put almost no chocolate in it. After talking to the waiter with short hair, she gave a bit of attitude and said that it was fine. We had another mocha on the table of which my mother had ordered, and it was day and night. The waiter witnessed this and still refused to remake or give any reason as to why it was significantly different. After trying to cope and having a few sips of my mocha plus mixing it to try to get it mixed, we decided to go to the front and have the mocha remade. Unfortunately, the same waitress did it with a lot of attitude, and from the picture, you can clearly see that she overloaded it with chocolate just to give some attitude back. Such a rude being to work customer service and give so much attitude. Truly someone who doesn't belong in this environment. If you see this short haired woman, avoid this place as she will likely grant you a similar experience. It only takes one bad experience to destroy what...
