I’ve spent months and months looking forward to tasting coffee made by a barista from this coffee shop. This place caught our attention because they farm and roast their own coffee beans. In their shop they make their own syrups and create very unique drinks. — My boyfriend had bought coffee beans from their online shop and when he would make us pour overs they were always very well extracted and balanced, hot or cold. ☕️🧊 We went a little crazy and tasted quite a few drinks (mostly because we don’t live close by). Our order: 1 shot of espresso - which was the Peixoto Honey, 1 Iced Samba Latte w/ macadamia milk, 1 Iced Toasted Coconut Latte w/ macadamia milk (⭐️ which was our favorite drink), 1 pour over brewed with the Familia Peixoto bean, and the last slice of some kind of peach blueberry crumb cake 🍑🫐🍰. The Peixoto Honey 🍯 espresso was overly sour and not appealing for an espresso shot. The Samba latte was an interesting combination of flavors, but initially we both felt the drink was thrown off by the espresso. I did like the taste of pineapple is this drink. ⭐️⭐️The Toasted Coconut Latte was our favorite of all the drinks! The coconut flavor was very obvious, but not overpowering. The sweetness was just the right amount. We would order this again, no question. ⭐️⭐️ The Familia Peixoto pour over was just good. Seemed a little weak, no apparent aroma of hazelnut, which is main flavor of this bean. After about 10 minutes and it cooled a bit, we felt that it had better flavor, aroma, and the fruitiness was more prominent. TO EAT: we would order the peach blueberry cake again, that was very very good. 🙌
Overall, the experience was good. If you are looking for “quick” coffee definitely not the place for you. The baristas take their time to make the drinks with technique, your coffee doesn’t just get thrown together. This is a technique based coffee shop. Felt like the atmosphere was very underwhelming. Didn’t have the upbeat vibes that were expected and wished that the baristas were more involved. CUSTOMER SERVICE: We mentioned to one of the baristas, that our espresso shot was sour and remade it for us. We enjoyed the espresso shot the second time around and were grateful she offered to fix...
Read moreI have to backtrack a little on my previous review. Peixoto's has had some time to establish itself as a little, hipster, privately-owned coffee shop.
Atmosphere: Great! While the cafe is small, it's very well laid-out and has a naturally sleek layout. Brick walls, dark floors and wood tables with light-colored chairs to brighten things up.
Customer Service: Peixoto's has always had really kind and helpful staff. They knoe the coffe. They know the drinks. They can definitely help you figure out what's what. No loss of stars there.
Food: Here's where the three stars really come in. I love that Peixoto's goes local when it comes to their pastries. But a lot of times the vendors come unprepared for the sheer number of people that flock in to the coffee shop, leaving a loss of business for them and a lot of unhappy turned away customers. Now, when it comes to the coffee shop's drinks I can't say anything good. I've never had a drink here (out of the several times I've dropped by to try something different thinking maybe it'll get better) that I thought, "Wow, I want another one of these." Or even "I want to finish every last sip." In fact, every coffee I've had has been disgusting and I've had to choke it down cause I don't want to that customer who always wants something different. Sorry. The espresso is tasteful if you like over-roasted burnt shots. Their seasonal menu tries to infuse their charred lattes with more flavorings that really only add gasoline to the fire. I've been to a myriad of coffee shops all along the west coast, and even in Europe and this one by far takes the cake for most expensive and most disappointing lattes.
Overall: I usually avoid Peixoto's because they charge for too much for their drinks and their usual lack of no pastries is disheartening. If you're looking for coffee shops that will deliver time and time again with good food and coffee I'd suggest trying Press Coffee, King Coffee or Cartel (and even Cartel is overpriced but at least they're consistent). I'm sad to say, this place is not worth your money or...
Read moreI've been wanting and waiting to try out Peixoto (Pay-Sho-Tow) for some time now. I finally got the chance and was pleasantly surprised, I try out coffee shops, cafés, and roasters as much as I can when I travel, and this local AZ. shop was long past do. At first impression I felt it had a bit odd vibe, being located in downtown chandler it has a hard to describe darker look to it. (Not bad) definitely unique. Almost a East-cost bar feel. I was welcomed at the door even though it was busy, which I find to always to be nice. I picked out three separate drinks I was going to try (not all at once of course.) The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable and answered my questions with a good amount of detail about their coffee. (Always a plus when you are a roster as well!) The drinks were made with care, and skill, as the Taste was on point. The price is slightly higher then most family owned shops, however, it was worth the extra penny with the quality of the coffee, and milk (locally bought) I noticed with danzeisen milk which is a big plus! One of my drinks being a latte, had a well executed latte art swan! (I judge on taste, but it's nice to see they practice stretching milk just right!) and like I said the taste was very enjoyable! The only tiny complaint I could bring up if I had to, would be that the Café Macchiato had bit too much milk. (But for a American cafe this is not uncommon, and still was extremely good!) Overall Peixoto is one of the top spots for well executed espresso in the metro AZ area. I also noticed they offered a Nitrogen infused tap, not available in many places. I bought some of their roasts and was pleased with it as well. Definitely a place you want to try if you love coffee or the chandler downtown area, it's well worth your time and money. (When I was there, it wasn't exactly downtempo!) so maybe not the best place to study/work, but it might be better at different times. Thanks for the great coffee! I'll definitely be coming back. ...
