I usually try not to complain but lattes are always good. Only issue was that I’m a regular customer and I ordered the latte I usually get today on Tuesday the 10th at around 4:30pm. I was with my brother who has over $500 in just spent rewards I paid an extra $2 when ordering for the cold foam. I get the drink and it has like a tbs of cold foam whereas everyone else with me had the regular amount LOL so I take it back just requesting more. And I was standing at the register asking for more and the male barista goes “well you have to pay $2 more dollars 😒” like uhhh…ok! So I was like ‘alrighty well I already paid the $2 but can I get more foam?’ (Also being snarky back because you won’t be snarky to me and get away with it). To which he responds “that’s the usual amount we put in the lattes when your order it 😒.” To which the lady tried to explain “hey she already paid the $2” and tried to explain that she did put significantly less - but he cut her off?? (Rude) Didn’t let her speak, and I ended up paying an extra $2 because he needed to prove a point. I honestly just paid it because the girl was so kind so I didn’t even care but the attitude? Come on bro, get a grip. You’re making lattes and acting like you’re fighting in the military.
This guy was acting like I stole the latte and ran off and didn’t pay up to $40 + extra for tip for my drinks? Like bro pour the cold foam I’ll pay the extra $2. And If that’s the regular amount why does everyone else at my table have double the amount? Idk if he thought I chugged my drink and showed up to the register for more but if he did then he should keep an eye on orders more closely and should know there’s a significant amount of less cold foam on one drink compared to another. It’s not a huge deal but it is a huge deal because he was disrespectful. If you can’t do customer service then don’t work a customer facing job. Not to mention, if we all ordered the same thing…. maybe idk….the items should look similar??...
Read moreIt was Mother’s Day, and after 50-some-odd days homeschooling and sheltering in place with two kids with special needs, I wanted a few hours of quiet solitude in my car. It was late morning and I hadn’t had breakfast, so after running an errand I looked up area coffee shops, and saw that Cafein offered breakfast food as well as craft coffee. Bingo!
Rather than use a third party for pickup, I wanted to ensure the local business kept all proceeds. So I called them up to make sure they were still open during the pandemic, still offering breakfast, and their pickup options. Based on other reviews, I decided to order two Davant coffees and an avocado toast.
I’ve never had a Davant coffee before, wasn’t even sure what it was, but OMG I’m so glad I trusted my fellow reviewers. It was DIVINE. It was perfectly balance with a little sweet and a light foam, but intense rich coffee flavor. It was so good I drank the second I originally intended for my husband! (Shh!)
And their avocado toast was sensational too. I thought I was just someone who couldn’t get on board with the whole avocado toast craze, as I had tried it like 4-5 different occasions and a variety of ways, but I always found it bland and cold and oddly textured. (And I love guac!) But the pics and reviews persuaded me to try Caffein’s, and wow...it’s made me a convert! The toast stayed firm and toasty, not soggy. They drizzle balsamic vinegar or glaze over top of cherry tomatoes and a feta crumble. It was excellent!
That one hour of solitude in my car, in the parking lot of a strip mall in Chantilly, was the best hour I’ve had in months as I sipped and dined on Caffein’s delicious creations listening to an audiobook with the sunroof open catching a few rays. I can’t wait to do...
Read moreNot going to lie, I came here for the rose latte. I've been seeing photos of this gorgeous drink pop up on Yelp and Instagram for at least a year, so I was stoked that we were in the vicinity. The storefront does not look like much from the outside, masquerading as an average coffee shop in a typical small suburban shopping plaza. But once you step in, your world is transformed. I love the interior, how spacious and bright it is. I really love how they decorated the wall near the entrance with the periodic elements for Cafein. There's a ton of space inside, with lots of tables and sofas. It's a great place to either catch up with friends or study by yourself.
I ordered the rose latte (duh) and a slice of rainbow cake. The rose latte was delicious, and I really like how the subtle floral flavors come up. They do some of the prettiest latte art that I've ever seen, which is a bonus! I ordered the rainbow cake on a whim, thinking that it was going to be overly sweet. I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised when I took a bite of the cake and found it to be incredibly moist and not too sugary. It's a pretty big slice that you can easily share with a friend. Everything was so good that I even did a second round of ordering and this time I got my favorite drink of all time, a matcha latte. I like that they serve Stumptown here, which is one of my favorite coffee roasters. The barista did an excellent job at pulling an espresso shot for my BF.
In addition to coffee and other drinks, they also serve sandwiches and various sweets. I definitely need to come back for their matcha cheesecake! If you're a fan of cute coffee shops that serve up really great coffee and coffee drinks, this is the...
