Friday night at Hibachi Grill & Buffet in Chantilly should be busy, but this place was dead—just two other tables when we walked in at seven. Hostess barely looked happy to see us, and if that wasn’t a sign, the food sealed it. Sushi was crusty, dried out, weirdly gray - honestly, you'd expect fresher from a gas station shelf. Chef at the sushi station was glued to his phone, blasting what sounded like a personal playlist so loud you could catch the rhythm from across the buffet. Wasabi was chalky and ginger looked days old. Soy sauce? Evaporating. Buffet choices were super slim, mainly shrimp. Beef and chicken stir fry didn’t look worth the plate space. Two kinds of fried wings in total, which didn’t help. Another staff had their phone volume maxed out, so the noise never stopped. Salad bar was a sad scene; brown edges and limp leaves, with dressings crusted over like they’d been sitting since breakfast. Forget the dessert section and fruit; nothing looked tempting. Soup looked so neglected, you’d swear it belonged in a donation bin. Ice cream was worse; just tough lemon and a chocolate that didn’t pass the smell test. Only highlight? The hibachi chef hustled to make shrimp, and eggs feel freshly cooked, even if the supplies were running dry. The green tea was decent. But with sticky walls and greasy windows, it’s hard not to feel like the place quit on cleanliness a while ago. At least our server has a smile. Takeaway: Skip this spot, unless you’re real desperate for hibachi shrimp and don’t mind a rundown vibe. This one’s for folks who think food court sushi is gourmet.

Absolutely horrible experience, that I didn't bother to eat more the a piece of chicken, paid, and left, its like I came there to give them $29.66 of my money for two people to drink water. Its was already too late to just walk out, becuase I ate something without thinking about the walking out part. The food was COLD, there was NO selection of food, everything was nearly EMPTY, everything was old and leftover, terrible, absolutely terrible. I was there barely 10 minutes and I feel like a clown for biting into anything. I make a lot of reviews, but never like this, I will never recommend this place and would give it negative stars. All that was out was really leftover cold fried foods, the Chinese food was literally leftover pieces and pickings from other people, the cocktail shrimp was a no go. l the sushi wasn't sushi, but veggies and cream cheese nonsense, no fresh pieces of anything fish, there was just so much empty space~ More people should give one star to this place and give it a true 1 star rating that it is worth and close the place down or sell it to new management, total garbage experience.

Pretty mediocre buffet. Our family of 13 was here for dinner and price was about $26/person. There were a lot of food options but thats including 2-3 types of chicken wings, pizza, french fries and nuggets. They used to have lots of seafood options but it looks like the quality had gone down. The crab were not good quality and only one type of crab dish. Headless cajun style shrimp were pretty good, fried shrimp with onion and pepper were also okay. They used to have pyster but no longer offer that. Sushi did not look too appetizing but I didn’t expect much from a buffet place. Crawfish were tasteless but they always fill them so it does stay hot and fully stocked which is a plus. They have a hibachi bar which is probably the one dish that wasn’t dissappointing, 4 different ice cream options, lots of cakes. Would not be somewhere I would come back to by choice. Service was okay, they did not come by to check on us or to refill our drinks. Restaurant is pretty spacey and big so plenty of rooms for big parties, families/group.

Do Not Come. I've visited this place multiple times throughout the year and barely was able to tolerate their poor service. I did so because it was a buffet place nearest to my place but today was the last straw. I would not recommend this place for anyone, not except for my worst enemies. Nobody cares here. Not the servers, not the host, not the sushi staff, nobody. Host is too busy looking at her phone slouched in a chair to notice customers coming in and when I asked if we could sit at a different place, she literally hands me the utensils and order paper and says to take it to wherever I want to go then goes back to her chair with an airpod in her ear. When I was trying to get some sushi, the man responsible for making them was a horrible person. Not only did he absolutely ruin the quality of the food he was serving, he actually yelled at me in chinese (I dont speak chinese) when the roll i was trying to pick up fell apart because the rice was in such a horrible condition that they became stuck together like a mochi and he didn't cut the seaweed properly for each piece to be separated. He continued his yelling in chinese and when I asked him for his name and about his ridiculous behavior, he waved at me, telling me to go away. When I asked my server who was also doing nothing and just standing, chatting with his co workers, for the manager, he couldn't even be bothered answering and just pointed at the host. (Other day, the server couldn't even tell me what kind of drinks they had, another day, she would hand our check during meal) I asked the host if she was the manager and she said no and when I asked who the manager is and the name of the sushi staff member, she absolutely refused to answer either of those question. In fact, she straight up left mid conversation to attend other stuff she wasn't doing. They have been raising their price, lowering the food quality but their service? come experience it if you want to waste both your money and your time. Not to mention nobody is actually able to speak any proper English here (I'm an Asian migrant myself). When I got up to leave, guess who surprisingly cared? nobody. The only other regret is that I can't actually give 0 star to this review I'm writing.

A PIECE OF WIRE IN THE FOOD. You would think the manager would show concern that their chefs are not being clean or careful enough with their cooking stations but nope! A manager who is rude and indifferent to something that could have been very dangerous is the one who is working there.

We just recently went here and can safely say this will be our first and last time EVER coming here. My daughter had taken a bite of her food and stopped to take what she assumed to be a piece of bone out of some meat but to her surprise (and our concern) it was a piece of WIRE. Wire!!! We asked to speak to the manager and were told we could go to him if we needed to speak to him (Excuse me? A manager does not just sit in one spot expecting clients to go to him all the time. We're business owners ourselves for years now and I would be horribly angered if I knew our manager treated a single one of our clients the way this man treated us). After our daughter took the piece of wire out we placed it on a napkin to give to the manager and show him, he ended up coming to our table and simply said he would show it to the chef and gave a very half hearted apology. The food did not have much flavor and my daughter did not want to eat anymore and left basically her entire plate of food minus some green beans she felt comfortable eating. When we finished we went to pay at the front and the manager again just carried on as usual - he didn't think to apologize again for the incident or ask if everything else was okay. We asked if he had told the chef about the wire becuase of how dangerous something like that could be in food and he behaved so indifferently to it saying in such a causal manner that the chef said he apologizes for what happened. (Why didn't he mention the chef apologizing before we asked him again about the wire)??

Of course we were both upset, and shocked because a wire in food?? You would think he would be concerned that the chefs are not being clean enough or careful enough with their cooking stations! We ended up paying for dinner my daughter did not even fully eat and had a terrible experience.

Never again. No wonder this place has such a low...

I recently moved here and cant find any buffet places at all. i tried one up in reston, it was awful and i have tried this one here in chantilly a couple of times.

It appears that the price went up today. The place was empty at the height of dinner time so i assume thats why? Or maybe the small choices of food for nearly 20 bucks?

I know they are struggling with food supplies and cost, but when i walked in the door, a young male teenager was the “greeter” but was sitting down on his phone, and then it appeared maybe he was sleeping? i was not sure. then he saw me and was polite, quiet, buried in his hoody.

once i got my drink, i never saw the server again as the ladies were also on their phones. so, i had to go to them with my cup and ask for more water.

I asked, at first, for an extra glass of ice (just ice) and melted butter but instead i got extra napkins. When i was asking for the extra ice and some melted butter, she was walking away so i had to hurry, but never got it.

I hate to say this but the food was as if it was left over from lunch, and i was paying $17.99 (i think a buck more than my last visit?) for old dried up food, yet, some of it was fresher. The icecream was down to just a few cups of chocolate only. the freezer was empty. not sure who’s fault but when you pay 20, maybe tell us you are out of food?

Its just sad all around. its a very large place with tons of empty tables. that just made me feel sad for them and for us customers that need a good place where the servers care about you and want you to be there and for decent food. I dont mind paying more, but just have more to offer maybe or better service at least?

I read many said the service was not good. Before i moved here, from warrenton, va, the service at that local hibachi was amazing. and the food was way better, fresher and less expensive.

we need more buffets of any kind in this area. with so many more people, i was sure there would be more restaurants and more buffets...
